OH man! some big news guys. So did I ever mention that I helped out a lady a couple of weeks ago with a flat tire in the Walmart parking lot? Well the story goes, I pull up next her and she asked if I wouldn't mind pulling up ahead to the next stall because her husband on his way to change her flat tire. So I say, sure and pull ahead. Then I pull out my floor jack and 4 way and start working on changing her flat. The husband shows up and I finish changing the flat with him. the wife then wants to give me money but I say no thanks and that I would want someone to help my wife if she was stranded. So the husband sees my BH.C t-shirt and asks if I hunt. I say, why yes I do. He asked if I was local, why yes I am. Then he hands me his business card and turns out he owns an 340 acre organic farm with about 80 acres of woods, and says I'm welcome to hunt anytime for turkey, deer and coyote. He said he hates the turkeys with a passion. WOW! I was blown away. So tonight I went over to talk further with him and he gives me a satellite view of his property and his rules. Turns out there are a couple of other guys also hunting the property and they have been made aware that I'll be hunting there. He said no problem with stands but he wants them clearly marked. I am so pumped! then he shows me a shed he found tonight on the property. 10" tines on G2s! now I am really gettin excited. So now have 2 properties to hunt! man sometimes it pays to be nice to others. I'll be scouting the property next week and let you know what I find. Good luck to everyone else that's out this week. JZ let's get some big points on the board and whack Bacon/STD!
Alright fellas, I'm fixing to head out. I didn't make it out this morning with it still being warm, but it's cooling off quick! I'm gonna be hunting right against a bedding area overlooking a big mock scrape that I have. This spot last year had buck after buck using it and this was about the time last year I started seeing my current #1 buck using this area. Gonna be a little windy, but I'm pretty pumped about this evening.
Good luck to everyone this weekend! Remember to be safe, wear your safety harness and get 2 pictures of your deer/you/bow!!!
Ok, so I didn't shoot anything tonight. I did crawl to within about 5 yards of a bedded buck though. It was very cool to watch a wild deer laying in their bed going about their daily business. Did see a couple other does and small bucks, but that was about it.
Got busted last night at last light by a old nanny doe. She was at 40 yards when I stood up and grabbed the camera arm...she pinned me, blew, and took off. Stupid mistake on my part! Bad rains all day today...went out late for an evening sit when the rain slowed and had a couple doe skirt behind me 30 yards away. Hopefully there moving in the AM! Had a doe bust me tonight, didn't blow just stopped dead about 60 yards stomped a few times and walked off in the other direction. Then with 10 mins left of shooting time my buddy decides to pack it in and ends up dropping his bow from his stand. Didn't know it till afterwards but I had a big 10 point about 50 yards behind me. Took off like a bolt of lightening when it heard the crash and just started blowing as it ran through the brush. Buddy didn't even know what it was when I met up with him he was asking me what was making the squealing sound. Also saw 2 other bucks today unfortunately they were dead on the side of the road.
Slow morning so far, thought movement would be good this morning. Temp dropped a lot and the rains past. See what the next couple hours have in store for me. Anyone else in a tree this morning? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good luck this morning. I just got to work, otherwise I'd be in the tree. Gotta work 12 today, 12 tomorrow, and then off Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll be back at it Tuesday morning. Hopefully the mornings will stay cool and it won't get too hot throughout the day.
Ya same here for me slow mirning. Few turkeys and a coon all I got to report. I expected good things this morning. There's still time though.
Check cameras today, still have 10 days till season starts, but I hung a climber in a new place and jumped a couple of bedding deer. And got a hoss on camera.
