So a little more about me: I’ve been going hunting since I was 3, I’m 30 now! My dad took me every chance he got. I started getting serious with archery when I was 10. I killed my first deer when I was 11, it was with a rifle. My biggest buck to date is a 110” 9 point, also killed with a rifle. My first archery kill came 6 years ago, it was a 1 pointer lol. Since then, I have harvested a doe each year with my bow. I hunt with a bow exclusively now! The last deer I killed with a rifle, I never once got excited. That’s when I put the guns down and have just kept the bow in my hand. I had a opportunity last year at a big six but made a poor shot and never found him. I primarily hunt a 500 acre lease that me and some of my family are on. I also will be hunting my 15 acres behind the house. It’s really thick and tough hunting due to the creek and cane thickets. I can only hunt on a southern wind so early season is my friend. I sometimes slip off to some public land, mainly a WMA known as James Collins, that place as some giants but gets a lot of pressure at times. I’ll be hunting with a recurve bow for the first two weeks of the season then switching back to my Mathews. A doe shouldn’t be a issue for me, hopefully I’ll get 50 points and more importantly, some fresh venison for the grill. Me and a buddy of mine is going to venture in filming some of our hunts. Ive done a little self filming and really enjoyed that challenge (like deer hunting isn’t challenging enough lol). I manage my uncles sporting goods store and help out in our deer processing plant. I get a lot of time to go hunting and I’ll be out there everyday starting October 25th-November 12th. I feel this year will be my year to finally harvest one of those mature bucks! My hopes are really high and I feel super confident that I’ve finally figured out the movement of those bigger bucks. If you have read all of this, I’m so sorry that you can’t get that time back hahaha.
Well, we got a little pedigree in here. I was a member of Team 10, Back-to-Back championship 2012 &2013 with a second place finish in 2014.
I’ve messaged Brad with our team name and captain selection. Hopefully we can add 2018 champions to all of our resumes!
Another extremely slow day at the shop, I find myself on here yet again. This rain is something else! This is my recurve that I’ll be using. It’s a Black Widow takedown. And my baby!!!! Mathews HeliM with Trophy Ridge react 5 pin.
That Black Widow is absolutely beautiful! Brace looks a little low on it though. I shoot a '64 Bear Kodiak Magnum.
Yeah I’ve got to twist my string up. I put it together just for a pic lol. I love those old kodiaks! Great shooting bows
