My family and I used to hunt nothing but paper mill land. I found that if it was fresh logged, the deer would come in and still pick leaves and whatnot. If the logging had occurred some time ago they would Forge pathways through the area but were more on guard easlking through. Ultimately I think it depends on the area of logging versus where feeding and bedding areas are and if those areas have changed. I wish you luck with the new set ups. Those can be a pain! I was just about to post my resignation of being team captain....oh well Lol I'm cool with it. I've been captain twice before so it wont be too difficult as long as I keep you guys in line . I also designed the last two avatars for my team but not sure I will have the time too this year if someone would like to take on that task. Team Names: (Avatar idea) Team One Shot First (Could have Han Solo in camo or something if someone is good at editing photos lol) One and Done (An arrow sticking in the ground with a deer down in the background) Team Juan (I really don't know a good avatar for this one and only got the idea from a Family Guy episode) Team Won (We can get real cocky and make our avatar the "2018 BHOD Champs") Team One Shot, One Opportunity (Could make this some type of Eminem reference...Its the Michigan in me) As for my season I really have not been out as much as I would have liked to have been. We cut our grass for the first time in July and it was about 3' tall. Last time out I expanded a food plot and cleared some paths that were overgrown with briarwood and any other native Michigan plant that has thorns. During the labor day weekend I plan on discing the food plots and getting some seed planted for the fall. I will only hunt my food plots the first two weeks of the year and the last two weeks of the year because of the pressure in our area. My best bet for a good buck will be in the timber mid day while their moving during the rut. We have some guys to our north who come over from Windsor, Canada every year and lease property adjoining to ours. We have had troubles with them the last few years catching them in the woods during hunting hours just walking our paths and have caught them on camera numerous times. Last year I had one of them park a quad less than 50 yards away from me while I was in my stand and they sat there for 4 hours with their crossbow propped up on the quad. I ended up calling the game warden and have not heard from them since...hopefully it stays that way.
