Looks like an abcess, any damage to the hide? Would think it would be a little early for a fight having a tine pierce and get infected. Maybe snagged up going under a barbed wire fence or something. I'd be leary of trusting them as well
Super windy (40mph gusts) and cold today. A little while ago it looked like a blizzard outside. If the wind dies down a little this afternoon, I may go out check my two cameras out and then go scout some new areas and put my other two cameras out. The nice thing about already shooting my buck is I can scout in season to get a better grasp on where and what they doing. My main reason for scouting now is a need to find a good spot to take my daughter for gun season. Also I need to still shoot some does. Good luck to everyone hunting this weekend! Sounds like everyone is dealing with high winds today! It’s blowing at 25 to 30 mph here right now - sitting on my back porch right now watching it and it’s incredible. I don’t think the wind is going to quit until around midnight. Supposed to be 33 in the morning with very little wind. I will be in a tree stand tomorrow morning and tomorrow afternoon.
Cool experience walking out a little early this evening. Ended up kicking out a doe from a Thicket who was followed by an 8-point buck. Buck stopped about 10 yards from me, unfortunately my bowl was slung on my shoulder or i may have had a chance! Buck turned looked at me [probably thinking oh $#it!] and ran away. Another doe ran the other way. I decided to sit at the nearest dead fall and saw a little buck about 80 yds away on the top of the trail. Neat ending to a cold and windy day. Good luck man. It's starting to pick up. I'll be going after a buck I call the "15B" buck Monday morning. I wont have a lot of chances to hunt him so when the area is open on the military base is open I go after him. Saw him in 2016 in December. Had him at 25 yds last year. He isnt huge but I'd like to shoot him. Will be low 30s....hope it gets him on his first Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Shot under a doe last night. It was thick and my mind played tricks on me with yardage. I thought low 20s....it was near 30. Used 20 yd pin and arrow sailed right under her. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Have you ever thought of switching to one pin? I sight my one pin at 25 or 30 and just have to hold a little low for lower yardage. Just a thought. Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I have one pin set at 20 yds. I'm a one pin guy and like to shoot 25 and under. Works for me. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Missed measurements or just used net instead of gross? I'll update post to show gross score. Let me know if I missed something else.
Yes missed measurements. All bucks get 4 mass measurements on each side no matter the size or number of points. Sent from my SM-G900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Thanks for the heads up. I'm a Newb what can I say. I'm learning. Just reread the scoring tutorial, I'll make the change. And post Gross score
