Thanks all I was very happy to get some meat in the freezer- Yesterday I said in the live from the stand thread I would shoot anything I saw this morning and I stuck to it, he came through at 25 yards, spotted me but couldnt make me out and couldnt smell me as he was perfectly upwind, he went behind a tree I drew he came out at 21 yards and I shot him. I am super happy with me shot, that was my best shot out of a treestand. He ran about 25 yards and fell over. Now I can focus on putting some deer down on public land!

Congrats to those that put deer down this weekend. Busy one here for me, plus on call for work so didnt hit the woods. I've been out twice so far with no luck. Back at it this week.

Resisting the urge to hunt during this near perfect weather in mid October is difficult but I think it will put me in a better position come two weeks from today when I really want to get in after them and throw caution into the wind (literally)... Going to get a few workouts in the next couple of evenings to occupy my time. Will probably get after it pretty decent Thursday through Sunday again just trying to limit my mid week pressure the last couple of years. I think a guy could def. kill a decent buck this time of year - hell that was proved on our team just last week. If a guy wants to get into the stand and hunt hard - I say go for it! If your end game is to kill a mature buck and you only have 80 acres at which to hunt (like myself) then you got to be sensitive to the fact that hunting hard only presses the deer heard harder than they need to be pressed. Ignore me - I'm just trying to convince myself I'm doing the right thing. Truth be know it's killing me not hunting these last two nights.
