My daughter and I didn't get out today because she didn't wake up until 3:15pm. She had a very long weekend topped off with the home coming dance last night that got done at midnight. There is still our normal 9 day gun season that starts November 17th.

This next week is suppose to be 70s-80s...not good for getting deer moving here....especially after being 40s -50s this week!

Hope everyone had a good weekend!

3 More days of less than favorable conditions and then it begins! Come Thursday going to start hitting it pretty hard. 58 for a high and 39 for a low is more my type of hunting weather. The good news with all this hot weather is for the first 11 days of hunting season my property will have only been hunted twice by me so far - that can't hurt in the long run.

3 weeks til my rut vacation. Only time of the year I'm able to grow a beard bc of work. Beard growth and not having to shave is almost as good as killing a buck....almost

Same here for both. My rut vacation starts October 31st and goes through November 14th. If I get my buck before then, I may go down and hunt Missouri with a friend.

I started my beard for no shave November 5 years ago and haven't shaved it since! I keep it trimmed nice and short for work though. I can't let it go crazy.

I haven't been out hunting yet. Letting the WI property percolate with no pressure and one IL spot is under water with all of the flooding going on. Hoping to get to the other spot pretty quick. It's small but a nice little sleeper woods and close to home.

I had originally not planned on hunting until tomorrow evening. But with rain all day today the woods will be awfully quiet and scent free for me to get in and try and make something happen. As long as it's not pouring down rain I plan to hunt this evening.

So I know from your live stream that you saw some deer. Question is any arrows released?

The cold front has finally pushed into Indiana and it feels like fall.

I might hunt tonight or treat my wife to a nice date night before I hit it hard Friday afternoon, Saturday morning, Sunday morning, Sunday afternoon. Over the next 4 days I will be in the tree quite a bit regardless.

Good luck this weekend all - cherish your time in the woods - we only get to do this 3 months or so out of the years - don't be afraid to stop and think how fortunate we are for the opportunity and just enjoy the wildlife. I tend to get caught up in hunting really hard, trying to be super quiet, trying not to move to much in the stand, picking the right stand, being scent free etc. etc. Just get in the woods and enjoy it!

Nope. I didn't actually have a shot - I went live on my Instagram (sycamoretwitch) for a 5 minutes or so with doe in front of me. I was sitting on the edge of timber and a field, the doe never came out into my window they kinda just ate off the edge right below my stand. Had an unknown deer sneeze in the woods and that pulled mom and her fawn back into the woods.

In total I saw 3 doe and 3 fawns. Haven't seen a buck yet this year (yet). I'm not in a huge hurry to let an arrow fly on said random doe. I donate some of my meat to a local restaurant that opens seasonally and I want to make sure that I'm delivering fresh meat to them once it's processed. I do need to do some doe management at some point this season.
