Saw two doe opening night for me! It was a hot one but had fun - will be a day or two before I get back in the saddle. Just needed to get that first hunt out of my system - was super excited and anxious just to see that first deer!

Well first night was interesting on the stand. After I got into my stand, my dad walked by and went to his stand beyond where I was sitting. Once he walked by I started to screw my bow holder into my tree when I look up and three deer are now standing where my dad just walked by. I never got a chance at the big doe as something had them on edge. Later in the evening I had a doe and fawn feed into our food plot. The doe locked onto me for a good 5 minutes while the skeeters just had their way with me, probably lost a gallon of blood. At the end of the night it started to rain so I got down and started walking back to camp. I ended up spotting two deer on the side of a hill and watched them for a few minutes. They were acting very strange and oddly enough did not pay much attention to me while I was standing there. After they eventually took off I watched two of the biggest coyote I have ever seen pop over a hill and follow the deer into the woods. I set the HHA to 70 yards but they were moving way to fast. A lot of activity the first night just not the kind I was hoping for.

Expecting rain all weekend here. First sit tomorrow evening instead of Sunday. Was 90 here today and tomorrow the high is 62. Should be a great first sit. Let's get team Juan on the board!!!

Temps broke for today and today only - with rain expected for the better part of the day clearing off for the evening. Usually a fairly decent combo of conditions for a little more movement. So I'm going to try and get out this evening - then will probably not hunt again until Saturday or Sunday morning - supposed to be high 80's all weekend (barf).

I hunt a couple small suburban props maybe 3 to 4 times a year. One of the homeowners just sent me this from his backyard. Not a monster but a solid buck for around here. I'll get after him once next week.

Sighted in with my Lumenocks. First experience ever shooting lighted nocks and think that they are amazing. I shoot Victory shafts and the nocks fit nice a snug. They are also very easy to turn off.
