Bummer....sorry. Losing an animal always sucks. My Pops always told me, "thats why its called hunting and not shooting". My Canadian trapper friend's version of that is "thats why its called hunting and not grocery shopping". I usually tell my Pops, that doesnt make it suck any less! Thanks. Still sucks, but I know what I did wrong, so now it's just focusing on correcting it. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Little pre hunting season cleanup on the menu today - putting to boat up for the year!! Week away from deer season.
Still raining hard here. Man I hope it slows down so I can get into a tree. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Blew it tonight, had two doe within 5 yards but they came in head on and caught me with some movement and took off, Ill probably give it a week before I go back in hopefully theyre still moving around the same way
You didnt blow it. You observed movement the other day and made a move as a mobile hunter. Very close to making that move pay off. About as close as it gets. Good work setting up. This crap ain't easy. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I hope so I just get a little nervous being such a small property 15 acres, Im always afraid I may only get one shot. But that is the truth this crap aint easy thats what keeps me coming back for more, cant wait to get out to briery,
I know what you mean but at the end of the day if it was meant to happen, it will. In the mean time, try to sit back and enjoy the view! Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
Weekends are pretty open (I'm still waiting to get the details on a west va trip) and i can take a few days for primetime too. Sent from my SM-G930P using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Ok cool. I'm headed back to Briery tomorrow. Deep. I'm gonna find the nastiest cover I can find the furthest I can from foot traffic. Then try to find trails leading into that mess and set up a trail cam. Leave it for the entire season to see how and if they actually use it. I am trying to learn a bunch of new properties over the next few seasons and need a little help using cams. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Ok so i was researching the different ways to upgrade the straps on a summit viper, saw the molle system and after cleaning out my shed on Saturday remember i had an old external frame pack i got from a garage sale like 10 years ago i never used. I took the pack off and am going to try to attach it to my climber. Im afraid about all the metal on metal so if i can't cover it with tape or something im going to try to just attach the straps and belt with no frame. Although I will definitely not be hunting on Oct. 1 as I have my last golf outing of the year to play in that afternoon. Will kinda let the weather determine when I get into the deer woods. I’m thinking probably the 3rd or 4th. Anxious - but looking to play it smart this year! I use to just hunt every possible free day I had no matter the conditions - as I’ve gravitated away from that philosophy I’ve had quite a bit more success. Spending as much time as possible in the woods was a good thing when I was first getting into hunting. Different game now.
I'm almost 44 years old and I'm getting ready to kayak one and a 1/2 miles across the lake to scout a small section of public land. I must love this stuff. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Attached the frame to the summit with a ziptie just to check the noise, not bad at all, gonna tighten it up with some 550 cord. Super comfortable, Ill need to check in the woods before I have full confidence in it. Looks good Brett
Looks promising. Any where to hang a stand? Sent from my SM-G950U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
