Hitting the blind in the morning! Finished up broadhead tuning tonight. Took fletching off at 40 yards, so I'd say we're good! Best of luck to everyone hunting this weekend! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Saw 4 does and a hen this morning. Two yearlings and a big Doe with a fawn. Fawn still had spots, so all got a pass. Closest to the blind they got was 6 yards. Awesome morning! Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Didn't get out this morning, but checking cams right now. Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I sat last night saw some deer around 60 yards away coming down a path that sometimes allows them to circle around to where I was sitting the all of sudden they started doing some weird stuff, I couldnt really tell what was going on so I got down and tried to stalk over to the area (it ws windy and rainy) and I found a freaking tent some hobo camping just down the trail so he spooked the deer out of there Gonna go back today and give the warden a call if hes still there, shoulda called last night but was too frustrated and didnt even think about it
Today I got out to what I hope will be my go to new hunting spot. Fort Pickett. Very limited ability to scout the place out of season. So most of my scouting will be in season the first few weeks of October. Most days Im off work will be hunting or scouting in the mornings. Lay off for a couple of weeks before the rut then hit those marked spots again. Have to gear up my canoe as I think some spots are over a mile to mile and a half on the water...all land locked spots with only water access. Cant wait to try and figure out the new land here in a few weeks.
Apparently old age is hitting hard lol...cant remember if i posted this or not, but I was finally able to pick up my bear mount i turned into the taxidermist 2 yrs ago. Looks good but Im not sure if theres a 2 yr wait, that I will be going back to the same guy... Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
well tonight was super dissapointing, didnt see a thing but I thought for sure I would have seen something. The tent was still there but after looking at it through the binos I realized its not on the property I hunt and looks a lot nicer than a hobo hiking around, Its probably some kid or something
Well nothing exciting on the three cams I checked. Just does, bears and a couple little bucks. The positive is I scouted on my way out from my last and bumped a big bodied buck. Didn't get a good look at the rack. Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Brand new public grounds. That will be tough. However the topography is right in my wheel house. Been hunting terrain like that for almost 20 years. Will probably get 5 to 7 days of rut hunting on it. We shall see what I can discover in the next month or so. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Are you going to be focusing on the bottoms or the ridges? Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Just got out for some mid morning scouting... I learned nothing -have no clue what the deer are doing on the lil piece I'm hunting. Oh well Ill go sit again tonight and hopefully get lucky
Most of the time it is the higher ground. However I'll hunt wherever the deer like to be...lol. Mobile. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Just for fun & maybe some enjoyment - while many of you all have already started hunting my last 2 weeks have been spent tilling, seeding, rolling and watering about an acre behind my house. Had a couple loads of dirt delivered a few months back that I used to level out the clear cut in the back where the finger system had run out and settled over time. Looks like this next weekend should be good temp wise here in Wisconsin. Mid to low 60's. Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
