I live in Roscoe now. I grew up in Pecatonica. I hunt in Crawford county with my dad who's on team 16. Sent from my SM-G950U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Wow...what a small world. Next time I head down there I will have to let you know and maybe we can grab a burger and talk hunting. Nobody in her family hunts, so it gets pretty boring fast Sent from my XT1650 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Had my first sit tonight and saw nothing till I got back to the parking lot and saw a button buck he bumped but he at least went back into the woods. Its does only until oct anyway. I had a really good feeling about tonight, pretty bummed I didnt see anything but man it was nice to be out there again.
My wife will be out of town from Wednesday until Sunday...I wonder what hunting during a hurricane will be like?
Weather here in central IL is cooling off finally. It feels great but its killing me at the same time. October 1st season opens, the countdown is on.
Got the final stand hung on the WI property. Checked the cameras. Plenty of young bucks and a couple shooters. I'll post pics later. Opener for WI is Saturday but we are leaving it alone until mid October to keep the pressure off of it. IL opener is October 1st. Sent from my SM-G950U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Indiana opener is October 1. I will probably not be in the stand until the evening of the 2nd or 3rd...
Ill be out Saturday morning and Sunday...bucks are still showing up in the day time hours yet! Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
Ill be out the first weekend in October. Don't plan on moving far on the property during the month of October. Ill sit the front 20 until early November comes around then ill move back to my honey hole.
Anyone have any other hobbies they are involved with outside of hunting or archery? Personally I have three loves Hockey, Hunting, and Fishing! Played hockey since I was 8 and am continuing to play in adult leagues. Once the ice melts in the spring I am all about Walleye and then I transition to bass and Lakers during the summer. I also enjoy fishing. The other thing I love doing is training k9s for duty and continued training of police K9 teams. Sent from my SM-G935R4 using Tapatalk
In the two years I’ve lived on my property I’ve rarely hunted my 15 acres (see below in green). It’s just a pass through property that is only really decent during the rut and during the rut I want to hunt my good stuff rather than take a chance that a buck is cruising on that property... That’s my rationale anyway. My hunting buddy, who also happens to be my neighbor and that I share a lease with just down the road from this photo has his own little private slice of heaven (see above in blue). He’s got several shooters on camera including this beautiful buck (probably pushing 170”). We know this buck will travel - he could have this buck on his private land. If I draw a line from the middle of my private 15 and the middle of his private land it’s exactly a half mile. If I draw a line from that exact same spot on his land to our leased property it’s 1.2 miles. In other words - he could be anywhere... Ahh what to do - what to do. One thing I’m pretty confident of - he’s not nearly the best buck in the area.
Man I’m with you - I love to fish!! It’s been a heck of a good year for me too. Where do you fish? I’ve fished some of the best big bass lakes in the country Kentucky Lake and Lake Falcon (Texas). Fished a few smaller lakes here in Indiana and even a few creeks & farm ponds. All from this year: All from one day on a lake here in Indiana:
Shepherds? I have a 5 year old german/euro shepherd mix named Bentley. He has actually gotten compliments by officers cause of his bark and looks lol
