Yea that's what my vacation time is for. Looking to take it the first week of November and some days here and there as well.
Im taking some time at the end of this week to go thru hiking in southern Illinois. Should be some beautiful weather for it & Im looking forward to some more time in the woods. As for time off during the season, Im strictly a weekend hunter unfortunately.
I'll just show ya my slammer when I lay him down LoL... What could have been....someone jumped the gun...I'm always in and on near season. No biggy guys good luck. ... ;-)
Anyone geared up for the weekend? Gonna get cool out so its time to get out there in a stand & put some points on our scorecard or just get any last minute preps done.

Alright guys, its on tomorrow and I cant wait to get in the stand! I wasnt going to hunt in the morning but with this front blowing through and pictures of at least one good buck moving through one stand set up in the A.M. hours I am going to get after it. Gonna sit in the evening too if the wind holds around WNW. I'll keep ya posted!
Well, day one was a bust. Had two doe and two fawn come through at first light but I had plans right away after the hunt so only a target buck would get me to pull the trigger. Evening hunt was ruined when the landowner stayed busboy a hillside 100 yards from me. He knew I was there and told me he was gonna do it tonight. Not sure what the problem was there. May get out tomorrow night.
Inspired by WiRutJunkie's shooting station; my son and I built it this afternoon. As for hunting; I had to work all weekend so I didn't get out. Looking like I may be able to get out next weekend.
That was a nice storm front that moved across the Midwest this morning. What I wouldn't give to be sitting on stand this afternoon. Only a couple more weeks & we'll be getting after it. The trail cam pics & this weather we're getting have me jacked up & I cant wait till opening day.
