Surprisingly slow last night. I sat on a point where an alfalfa field and a small food plot meet some thick cover. This stand is one of our hunt/scout stands since you can see several different fields from it. All I saw was one doe with two little ones. I have the first week of Nov off and will be hitting it hard! Good luck fellas!
Well folks I have recovered my fall turkey. Isn't that what this team was for? Haha had a fun morning
I would do anything to have one deer of that quality around. It's pretty slim pickings around my parts
Thanks wasn't quite what I was out for but I'll take it. At least I got some practice for the real deal in.
I also put a doe down this weekend. Ill post pics & add my harvest to the scorecard tomorrow. Im dead tired, long weekend on stand. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Talk to yall tomorrow.
Sat morning was a little slow only seen a few. Sat night seen a lot of chasing and had a small shooter at 45 yards. I decided to let him walk. Sun morning between two of us we seen over 50 deer. Nothing had any size other than that 185 pound doe I shot. Sun night was much slower. Moving locations and back at it again.
Had a great weekend in the deer woods. I harvested a good doe & my little brother got his first buck.
Hey congrats on the deer guys and turkey. I'm going to get out tomorrow night then my 10 day hunting break starts on Friday so I'll be in the woods until the following Sunday or until I put one down. WOOT!!!
This past weekend was a bust for me. I put on a lot of miles scouting trying to find where the deer movements are happening right now only to find a few scrapes. I'm heading to a spot where I had a 8 point and Doe chase a ridge over from me again Thursday and Friday. If our deer numbers were normal this would be a stand where I could easily put something down on any given night. It's a huge natural funnel that's why it is so bizarre that I haven't had any encounters with the yearlings or fawns. If I don't have any luck up there in those two days I am going to have to explore some new grounds around home instead of at the cabin. I did find an area that I liked while I was trout fishing this last summer and I may give that a whirl. Getting a climber back in that area might be another problem...so thick This season has been extremely tough so far with lack of deer numbers where I usually hunt. I am doing my best to put something down and learning and adventuring into new grounds I haven't been to before. I just hope I can make it happen at this point I am out to fill the freezer.
Add 50pts to the board tonight. Young doe stepped out at 33yds quartered away all alone. Pics aren't great, we were very rushed tonight!
