I'm exactly a week away fella's from my bowhunting trip to Colorado to chase some bulls. I feel for you all who can't start until Oct. 15th.
headed out to the Elk Camp that will puts on every other year. already got my deer tag. depending on how funds go, ill pick up an elk tag when i get out there. 9 days of hunting and fishing. cant wait!
Well gents tomorrow is the day I've been waiting on although it was about 90 degrease today that's kind of discouraging but wish me luck team 32!!
Heading out this morning to check on a new public land spot that i'll be hunting tomorrow. Hope to find a few decent stand sites so I can have a game plan for tomorrow morning.
Tons of hiking trails where I scouted today. I don't know if that's good or bad. Outside of hunting season this place is open to hiking so that means deer may be used to people walking through the woods or, they may just avoid easily accessible areas all together. On the plus side, I did find one possible bedding area - a small flat / ledge area along a south facing ridge. Plenty of red oaks with white oaks mixed in so that's good. Bumped one small doe / fawn when I walked through so that's probably where I'll sit in the AM. There's a huge field on this property and about 2/3rds of it is mowed grass. The rest is completely uncut so I'll probably focus on a corner in the uncut area for the evening. Lots of corners and strips of timber so that's good. Other than that I didn't see too much in the way of deer sign so that means I might have to do a few sits in different spots to get a feel for this area.
Sounds like a nice area. One of the wma s I hunt get alot of people traffic through it and some of the deer are less spooky because of it. Sent from my RM-845_nam_vzw_100 using Tapatalk
We have cooler temps and more mving in, hope they stick around for the next 3 weeks Sent from my RM-845_nam_vzw_100 using Tapatalk
looked at the forecast and starting to see much cooler temps coming. just one more thing that will be getting me in the mood (like i need help at this point). good luck to those who are hunting already!
Saw a doe and fawn this morning at the WMA. Not a bad morning spot, lots of acorns dropping. I will be heading out shortly for the evening sit. This will be a run-and-gun setup - going to try to find a decent spot maybe set back in the woods from a field corner. Wish me luck! I'm hoping for a buck but I'll probably take a doe if i get a good shot op.
Good luck to everyone whose seasons are open. Most of all enjoy it, certainly is one of the best times of the year!
