I always make sure I have an extra release and batteries for flashlight and range finder and lighter and water proof matches in my pack.
To work on range estimation, determine your pace count. Every time you walk somewhere, home, work, town etc., look at an object and try to guess how far away it is. Then walk to that object, count the steps and then using your pace count see how close you were on your estimation. When you set your stands, look at objects that are easily identifiable in all shooting directions and pace count them or measure them to the stand and you will have a mental reference to use when the deer is coming by to make an accurate shot.
When I get up in the stand, first thing I do is start ranging key points around me. That way I don't have to use my range finder if I don't have the time. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
17 days guys until I'll be off to Colorado for our elk trip. I've been out there 5 times but this will be my very first bowhunting trip. Hopefully the bulls will be going crazy!
Only thing I'll be checking this weekend is the ladies at North Coast Festival! First time visiting Chicago.
I'll be checking cams this weekend or Monday! Gonna do some shooting tomorrow morning and then on Sunday heading to bass pro shops with a friend so he can pick up some new arrows and other gear for the season. 8 days to go
Gotta go fix my ground blind, the storms knocked it down. Can't wait til Sep 27 Sent from my RM-845_nam_vzw_100 using Tapatalk
I won't be checking cams until Sept 13th. Then it's off to CO. Still only have one decent shooter on cams but I just put out a cam on our trophy property. Can't wait to see what's on it. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I plan on checking cams sat and hanging two more tree stands only have 8 more days to go but hope it cools down some this was the hottest week of the year so far.
Won't be checking cams until 10 days before season opens. By then we will see who's still hanging around.
got out and put my blind back up and dropped some corn for the deer. My buddy came out and met up with me and we went back to his place to check some pictures from a cam. Nothing huge but I am excited, there are at least 2 bucks ild be very happy to shoot. and coming in around 7am and noon, plus lots of does. cant wait to start getting out there
Going out this Sunday to put out one last small food plot, then going to scout an area and hang a camera near a swamp where deer have been knocking down a bunch of corn traveling back and forth. Getting more excited as the season grows near!
Yesterday morning was perfect for some practice. Hope the weather cools off by next weekend. It's looking a little warm for my liking.
Hello fellas, just wanted to stop in and say good luck this season. Hunt hard and above all HUNT SAFE!
