Great finds hoyt! We got hit with a good bit of snow this weekend, March can't come soon enough or at least a good snow melt to get out there and pound the ground. Looking forward to some new spots in Ohio too.
I got my dog out on his first shed hunt yesterday afternoon. He didn't find anything, but I was really proud of him. He was looking hard the whole time and behaved very well. I ended up finding the buck my younger brother shot and couldn't find, but didn't find any sheds. I didn't have much on camera as far as bucks go, but I'll probably go back out sometime later this week.
Nice Im considering taking my dog out this year she loves playing with sheds around the yard, I was also considering on getting her a brush vest because she's a nut in the woods, do you guys do anything special with your dogs as far as protection or for ticks?
I don't worry about ticks where I take him. It's along the river and there are no ticks there. I have him on trifexis anyways and I'm pretty sure it protects against ticks. He doesn't wear a vest or anything, and I don't worry about him too much. He can take a pretty good beating. He plays pretty rough with my other dog anyways.
Ok got ya. I give her a flea and tick monthly sure that's good enough. Just seeing what other do. It will be a good time out with the pup
It's gonna be awhile for me after all the snow we got. It was about a foot that we got here yesterday.
I know what you guys feel like. I just looked outside and we got more snow last night.... Good thing it's only an inch or so and should melt today :D
I don't want to hear it!!!lol it is killing me to read about you guys shed hunting. here in nw pa we still have about 3 feet or more in the woods. it is going to take weeks for this to melt once it gets warm enough.
I finally know what it feels like to have too much snow to shed hunt! It is nice seeing where the deer are traveling and bedding but the foot or so that we got makes it hard to hike anywhere with elevation plus all the antlers I'm finding right now are old so now I can't even find those...
Numbers 8-9-10 for me. 10 was about 120 yards away when I spotted it off the road. Didn't even need binos to see it.
11-12-13-14 for me today and also a dead buck I have a shed from last year, he was going to be on my hitlist this year but I guess not. I saw him 2 weeks ago and he looked fine, not sure how he died.
Man that stinks. Good finds Tho for sure! Still waiting on the snow to melt, this upcoming week looks like it will melt that majority of it Im hoping, I have cabin fever.
