I'm going to score him tomorrow with the taxidermist. After looking him over real good I'm guessing right around 130.
So after we found the buck we found this piece of the arrow. I know it was a pass through so I'm wondering how it actually broke. Never did find the other piece. Had I seen this piece before we found him I would have been like yep, dead buck! My guess is the arrow was hanging out the other side then it snapped off and the rest of it must of just fell out.
I rattled in 5 bucks this afternoon. Two were decent 120 inches. The biggest came into my grunt at 7 yards. Another year an he would have been dead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hey guys! How you all doing? Will anyone be hitting it hard the next 1 to 2 weeks? Hopefully we put down a few more bucks and everyone gets their doe. Since I got my buck, my season is going to slow down quite a bit. I'll help the grandsons and I still plan on taking out 1 or 2 more doe. Good luck to you guys! Knock em down!
Gun season opens Saturday. I plan on giving my river place a rest until then. I have what I think is a mid 30s ten point staying pretty regular and I want my SIL to get a chance at him. I have a couple doe tags left. One of those I'll try and fill with a bow tag. Maybe second bow season I'll get back out.
Tell us the story. I would love to hear. I’ve been wanting to go elk hunting for years but haven’t made it happen yet Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’ve killed several now. Some with my bow. We were driving around our unit yesterday and my sister spotted some on public and 2 miles away. We turn around and decided to get up a mountain as fast as we could. Before we knew it we were in a mess of elk. Four of us drew a tag. Me, my sister, dad, and buddy. I told my buddy on the way up from Oklahoma he’d get first shot out of us two because I have killed them before. He and I decided to sit on a glassing knob while my dad and sister headed up the kill. I laid there in the sunshine and took me a nap. Not long after Jake woke me up asking if I had heard that shot. Turns out my sister killed her first elk and they were headed our way! So I threw Jake my shooting sticks and he got ready. There was a cow popped out at 330 yards and he squeezed the trigger an smoked her! Awesome! Two elk down! He and I work our way over to his elk when my sister text again saying BIG heard headed your way. I ran up the ridge and got ready my cow stepped out at 156 yards and offer me a frontal shot. I squeezed the trigger and she folded! What an epic 30 mins. We got mine down off the mountain today. Going to get the other two in the morning! It’s been one hell of a trip so far.
