Last hour of my hunt the wind was really brutal. It wasn't suppose to do that. Ended up seeing nothing.
The wind here was crazy last night. I did end up seeing 4 they just stayed a little out of range. I woke up this morning to calm and 37 degrees........and went to work.
They are starting to daylight finally. Getting out tomorrow evening. Good wind finally for ground blind hunt.
Decided not to go today but I'm going out Thursday morning. Temps will be in the mid 30's with no to very little wind and mostly to partly cloudy skies. I pulled the camera cards and looked over them last night. It seems activity had slowed a bit but I'm hoping with this extended colder air, activity will pick back up. So I've got Thursday morning, Saturday evening, then Sunday evening I'll be taking out the grandson for his first hunt.
Ended up seeing 2 bucks around 6:30 last night. Little 8 point and a tall tined 9 point with a narrow spread. The 8 point walked all around my blind. At one time he was standing broadside at 8 yards. Heading back this evening to hunt my favorite stand along the river. Got a good wind for it. I may shoot a doe if the opportunity arises.
Well I had a great hunt tonight but never got a chance to shoot a nice doe. I think I had 20 deer sightings, but some of those might have the same deer seen at different times. Small 8 was pushing does around early and there were 7 of them that ran up on me around 4:30. Had two fawns come in and bed down. Left 30 minutes later only to come back with mom 15 minutes later. Spooky gal she was. Right before dark I had 3 different doe groups come out in the beans.
Heading out here in an hour or so. Looking for some good movement tonight. I've got 2 tags left, my buck tag and a doe tag, so killing tonight is a highly favorable possibility!
Settled in, ready to launch and kill. C heck out the mock scrape I made 25 yards from my tree stand. I went and looked at it and they've been tearing it up!
One lone sighting of a little 6 point last 15 minutes of shooting light. He came right to the corn pile. Hopefully tomorrow with the grandson we'll have different results.
Was sitting on my front deck tonight talking to the kids and had 2 does feeding under the oaks by my little pond. Was cool. You could see their reflection in the pond but couldn't see them physically.
Well bad news is I noticed my backstop screw was broke and my shop couldn’t get a new one for weeks. Good news is they are stand up guys and sent me to another shop that had them in stock. Now my bow is all squared away in time for my Missouri hunt. I leave Thursday. Hopefully by early next week I’ll have a stud on ice Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
