Well guys, that's 2 doe down. Now we just need to keep stacking on the doe then put our bucks on the board. We're right in this!
Holy crap the app sucks! It keeps putting emojis in. If you knew me you would know that I am not an emoji guy. GIFs, yes, emojis no. I have 2 target bucks I am looking for. Have a non-typical 10 and a 13. My son has laid claim on the 10 but he won’t be here for rut hunting in two weeks.
So far on my cams there are 2 10's and an 8 I would take out this year. In years past I would have passed these bucks up. However, being away from hunting with just a touch of it here and there I've decided if either one of these give me an opportunity I'm going to take one of them out. Also factoring into my decision is I don't know if I'll be hunting this property or not next year. It's a farm my grandkids live on and they may or may not be there next year. Now if I see a bigger one on one of my camera's soon, I'll give them a pass and concentrate on the bigger buck.
So how many of you guys try and hunt the full moon days? Tuesday through Friday should be pretty good hunting to see big bucks on their feet. I know the timing of this full moon isn't the greatest because of the "October Lull", but if you can, especially Wednesday and Thursday will be good days to catch big bucks on their feet in the day light.
Congrats on the doe! It was 55 degrees this morning when I walked out of the house. It's about time to shoot one or two!
We went yesterday to my buddy's land and put out a whole pallet of corn. Lots of deer coming in there. I'm planning on doing a four-day public land hunt starting 11-1. Then 11-8 I'm headed to Colorado for a rifle elk hunt. Stopping a few days in Kansas on the way home from that to try and punch my Kansas Buck tag. It's about to get busy for me.
My cams have slowed up. I want to hunt this cold snap, but I'm afraid to mess up the woods with the winds we are having. Looks like Thursday I should be up for a buck hunt if the wind gets right.
Heading out here in a couple hours. Should be a great evening hunt. Temps in the upper 40's, overcast, and I haven't been to the area since Friday.
