Ky season starts Sept 1st! So im stooked.... this weekend ill be hunting for Team 9. Ive got a sponsorship product ill be giving a try to kill a doe this weekend but we'll see how it works. Its a Blind Ambition Hay Bale blind, im not a big blind person bc I feel "blind" and cant hear as well but I love the concept of this thing! Heres a few survivors from down there that im after:
Dang Zach - you've already got a few bucks on camera that have shed the velvet as of last week? That's crazy - seems early! Those are some pretty good options for sure. That is a pretty cool looking blind you got. BTW, how old is that last buck you have a photo of? He looks like he's 6.5 years lol Brent - what year are you in school? I just finished up my MBA last week - done with school forever man! Looks like with Zach and me hunting in Kentucky in September and you starting the 15th in Wisconsin then we could get off to a pretty good start in this competition with any luck! Here are a few team name suggestions: WhitetailStateofMind Big Bucks In Our Trucks Just a couple - anyone else have any suggestions??
These are all pics from last year thats why some are clean bone. I still have to check cams this weekend when I go down for this years crop. Ive talked to all the neighbors and no one has killed these deer that we know of so I'm sure they're still around there. I honestly dont know how old that last buck is bc he just kind of appeared and no one in the area really knew him, so im assuming 6.5+. I like whitetailstateofmind
agreed whitetailstateofmind is a top runner for me as well. I am a junior in undergrad program. Business Administration is my major with minor in property management. Yeah I am hoping for a quick start to the year as well.
WhitetailStateofMind works for me. Can anyone design the Avatar and/or Banner? Checking camera this weekend.
I have little graphic design skill - I work in Marketing for a hospital, but I don't handle any of our graphic/design work. Hope you get some good ones on camera - I am going to hang my Muddy Outfitter Climber on Friday after work over a food plot that I got in a few weeks ago after the heavy drought conditions lifted. Will also check the cameras for the last time prior to October 1. I don't plan to step foot on any of my hunting land in the month of September - keeping the pressure off them deer this year.
I like Wack Em & Stack Em and WhitetailStateofMind. We will see if anyone registers in the next couple of days. If not I will go ahead and get us submitted by Thursday.
Checked In, Finally! Hey guys my name is Will and I live in STL, MO. This is my first year out of college and am a 7th grade math teacher. I live to hunt and we have a 1300 acre farm 2 hours outside of STL that I mainly hunt (weekends) but also hunt a friends farm that is 300 acres less than 20 min from my house, so hopin to get out there some weekdays after school. I also vote Twitch for captain. Lookin forward to it!!
Hey welcome Will! Congrats on graduating college and teaching math to the youth of America! I coach middle school track for a local Catholic school (Not catholic so don't judge lol) and two my really good friends (twins) are high school math teachers! Thanks for the vote for captain - better yet, thanks for check-in! We are glad to have you on board! When does your season open in Mo? You ever been to East St. Louis? LOL! I got a buddy I ran track with in college from Lebonon, IL and he always jokes about how you CAN NOT go into East St. Louis - I'm like how bad can it be???
Good to see your a teacher..My dad and both my 2 older brothers are Elementary Special Ed teachers. Congrats on the job. Look forward to talking with you about the upcoming season.
Well I'm not sure that we are going to have more than maybe one or two check-in at this point. I'm going to go ahead and register as team captain for Team 9 with a name YTBD.
agreed. the people that are here and have made a early on commitment i say can choose the name and i still vote for whitetailstateofmind . so i say lets take the initiative and go with that and twitch as captain haha
Done - I went ahead and submitted both. Hope everyone is cool with that? Did want to get this taken care of before I get busy this weekend getting ready for Kentucky (I leave Monday). Also going to the Indiana State vs. IU football game in Gloomington, IN and doing some tailgatin before the game - so going to be awfully busy this weekend.
Where you been... LOL! We can probably still change it I'm down! I don't see anyone else checking in at this point but I could be wrong... Any of you guys put in food plots this year? I made my first attempt at it late this summer (waited for the drought to lift a little bit), we still haven't got much rain but enough to green things up a little bit. With whats left of the Huricane it looks like my region of Indiana is expected to get 4 to 6 inches of rain - that is enough to fill the creeks back up with water and give my food plot the shot of life it needs! I could be in the money come October!!
LOL!!! Not expecting much this early in the year in KY since theres no Ag where I hunt but with the heat back up, I DO have water!!! Heres a few pics of where I'll be this coming weekend! Hopefully ill at least put a slick head on the board for us.
Nice. Well I will be in a duck boat all weekend taking care of some geese. Season doesn't start for another month in Ohio. Rutin how did your Monster Raxx sites turn out. Mine were destroyed, mostly had does on the camera except few big bucks. I did a straight to ground sight and mixed it with corn. Heading to property tomorrow to pull camera card. Trim few limbs and do some ranging.
Was practicing last night and had a nice robin hood. Will post pictures after the weekend. Forgot camera. So i feel pretty dialed in now if Sept flies by like Oct. Then that would be nice. Good Luck to everyone this weekend and be safe and Happy Hunting!
Good luck goose hunting - never done that, closest thing to it that I have done is crow hunting, which is pretty fun since we have an incredible amount of crows around here come January! Zach - I will be hunting similar terrain while I am in Kentucky. I will be on the Kentucky Virginia state line near a small town called Fleming-Neon Kentucky. This part of the state similar to where you are hunting has non ag fields. You mentioned water? I have never hunt the property I am hunting this year so if I can find water should I hunt near that? What about other food sources like acorns? Big difference for me between hunting the flat lands that I hunt in Indiana and this rolling hills/mountainous terrain with heavy timber. What's the best way to tackle it - I have access to over 30 thousand acres of land, yes 30 thousand.
