Thanks Peak, and let's hope your right. I'm so looking forward to IL now. I have a sense of calm and not anxiousness about getting PA done. I actually have one doe tag for southern PA and I hope to get down to fill it.
Well guys, I'm finally back after 10 hard days of hunting here in IL, with not much to show for it except another doe! I did have a chance at a nice mature (probably 5 1/2 year old) buck on the 3rd morning of our hunt and I blew it - shot right over his back! He was about a 140" 8 point with a huge body and neck. I'm still pretty sick about it, but there's a lot of season left and I have a newfound dedication for trying to take a nice deer close to home. I'll be hard at it again this weekend after I catch up on some work, and some sleep. On a positive note Team Bowhunting.com was fortunate enough to win the Campbell Outdoor Challenge for the 2nd year in a row with a combination of my doe taken on the evening of November 5th and Mike's buck taken the following morning. Two days is all we needed to put the smack down on some deer, which was pretty cool. We're the first ever repeat champs, which makes us the greatest deer hunters in the world. :D Hope the rest of you are doing better than I did last week!!
Well team here he is he should go around 160 but I have yet to score him, just wanted to give you a sneak peek!!!! Walt
Congrats again Wally - Todd told me the footage was killer so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this year's DVD. Should be a good one!! I'm still pounding away at it here in IL. Fortunately since we're in a bow-only area up here I will continue to hunt through this weekend while the orange army hits the woods in the rest of the state. I'm going to hunt hard both Sat and Sun, then may shoot out to Todd's property next Weds for him to film me before Thanksgiving. I'll probably hunt Thanksgiving morning, then all three days after Thanksgiving. I'm hoping with nearly another week of hunting left for me this month I'll be able to connect on SOMETHING. Just don't know what it'll be yet. :D
Good luck bro, I just got word from Tater and we are heading back down next weekend to try for him again. I am hopeing the gunners haven't scared them to bad and maybe the big boys will be running again after some of those does.. Walt
Way to go Walt. I know I said it other places but congratulations. I see we're in first! ! I think we still need another buck on the ground to secure that position. Good luck guys. Oh and I know you didn't miss it, maybe Tribal but I did score in IL.
Great job Rob, very nice buck and a symmetrical one to boot. What a great year your having. I have been hunting with not much to show as of late. I had the same buck twice at 40 yards this morning without a clear shot. After not seeing any GREAT deer if he gives me chance again I'll take him. Cool thing is I call him the bent beam buck his right side bends... well down. lol I just checked my photos this morning from the trail cams and I caught him on 2 of my cams throughout November. So he is hanging around my stands. And I haven't hunted these stands for a few weeks. Anyway here is a pic of the weird guy. I was close to coming full draw at him this morning. I think it's the best I will do this year. Hopefully another doe also.
He's awesome Tribal. Good luck and OH, we just slipped into second, Dubbya scored a 102" buck for Team 12 which overtakes our lead. Comon guys, good luck.
Well Steve and I are heading back down Friday morning trying to catch some of the rut still going on. I don't know how hard our property got during gunseason but hopefully not hard. Walt
Well we returned with close calls with two more studs but no cigar!!! How is going for the rest of you guys.. Walt
So, how do our two remaining hold outs' seasons stand? We only need 219 between the two of you if the other team gets their doe finally, otherwise we need what, one small buck.
