Its is rough thing to go thru. Many of us on the team have been thru it, never fun. Best you can do is try and get back on the horse.

That's cool you were able to get some pics of him. I had a guy send me a pic of my buck from this year. It was just random that I ran into the guy on public.

Sounds like you made every effort to find him. Hopefully he’s still alive

My dad got the big boy we were after this year on Wednesday night! He slow rolled me like always and said it was a pretty good one. I could tell he was excited. Was able to go help him get it out with my best friend. Nothing better!

This week is going to drag so hard for me. 5 days until my Rutcation starts.
Getting stoked though cause I am getting my Brother out on his first ever hunt as well...not sure if I am excited cause I get to hunt or cause he gets to finally.

I must say this has been prolly the best rut I’ve had , last few years have been warm and slow.

I dont anticipate it to be all that great. Still fairly warm here in TX. This weekend looks like Highs to be in low 70s and upper 60s.
Hoping the "doe estrus" does the trick though as this week is "supposed" to be when the Rut here really takes off. Peak rut is scheduled to start back half of this week and ride out through thanksgiving...although not sure what to make of that since we are only hunting on 15 acres surrounded by much larger properties with deer leases everywhere.
Bucks are going to be going all sorts of crazy with the scent drops and lures everywhere HAHA.

Well he is still alive. Had a pic this morning on one of the food plots. 7493dad0-c9b4-471f-8cdf-2f210534e582.jpg

Confirmation of one way or the other is always reassuring. Looks like he is still in your area so you might get another crack at him.
Best of luck with it...That looks like a helluva stud.

Geeze look at those brows! Sorry that happened to you. At least you know he survived as of now. This team has been all about redemption. Think everyone on the team has been through something this year. Now time for you to finish the story on a great buck! Keep after it

Imma blame it on the team name LOL...
Tag - Hit Deer with Arrow
Drag - Takes forever to recover or kill

    as opposed to:
Tag - hit Deer with Arrow
Drag - Bring deer back to camp immediately

I wish you the best of luck, all those bucks I’ve seen have been on a property not very big maybe 25-30 acres. If you were open to opinion I would not use any scent. I don’t believe in them and never had luck with them. The only thing I ever use anymore is occasionally regular evercalm and that’s just on my boots on way in. I believe mature bucks avoid lures. I’d rather be invisible to deer

I am most definitely open to opinions, especially since this is my first ever year out doing this stuff.
My Brother-In-Law is the one with all the knowledge. Heck, only real reason I bagged that one I did is because of everything he has done with that small 15 acre property to get those guys to lure in. He is laying down couple food plots on it for next season, so that will be even more intriguing.
I have looked into that evercalm stuff, will probably pick up a stick of that before I head out too.

Try to keep up....So 3 days or so after i shot my doe and my friends uncle shot his buck, I get a text. It is from my friends daughters boyfriend. My friends uncle gave him my #. Says "I just finished my online safety course, got my license and got a crossbow. Anybody hunting this weekend? Can I use a stand? Do i need a tag before i hunt or can I get one after?"
I have 3 stands around the property and he has sent me pictures of 2 he found asking if they were mine. I purposely haven't hunted back there because the wind has been bad and I feel the rut wasn't really here yet. He has been back there 3 times in the last week. Says he has been in my friends uncles stand and only seen 1 small buck. Not my place, not my stand, not much i can do about it.. rant over.. anyway, this weekend is youth gun season. Then Nov 29th- Dec 5th is gun season. Seems every year these dates creep up on me and I don't feel like going out anymore. Work always gets busy around now so OT starts adding up. Kids go from fall sports to winter swim and club volleyball. Which means meets and tournaments every weekend starting in December. ALL DAY tournaments, usually leave around 7am and home after dark. Hard to get out after work during the week when its dark at 5:30. Usually can't get vacations approved until after January. Sounds like a bunch of excuses, it is what it is. I will try and squeeze in some more days when I can with my new friend. I Enjoy reading everyone's posts/stories, nice pics of bucks, keeps me coming back here every season. Keep up the good work.
