No,thought conditions were perfect, rained all night and was supposed to stop at 7am. Sat on the public spot again smack between 2 bedding areas. Figured bucks would reopen scrapes and cruise after rain subsided .Continued to rain till 9a. Saw absolutely nothing, still drying out lol.

I didn't go out, just try to sleep in. I'm in the stand now looking for some freezer meat!

Supposed to rain all day tomorrow so I just got the wife's honey do list done. Be in the stand by 4:45. Running a little late. 50° 5mph W wind. Should be good for my stand.

Had a big one get past while I had a little buck under my tree. It was wet and I couldn’t hear him. He was 25 yards walking straight away when I saw him unfortunately

Bumped a small buck right by my stand. Just ran off. No blowing. No wind at all..trying something different. I grabbed a chair and am sitting on the ground about 30yards off a popular trail these deer like to take up to a field about 100 yards away.

Had something come through as I was getting ready to leave. Too dark to make it out, just blew and ran.

Might have been the small buck you bumped on the way in. If he was unsure what bumped him, alot of times they come back to investigate.

Sat at my grandpa's 40 this morning. Seen 4 bucks and 2 does. 2 of the bucks were decent 2yr old 8's. Was gonna take a doe if the shot presented itself, but they stayed aways out from my stand. Was nice to get in the tree on a frosty morning though.

Was planning to get a quick hunt in last Saturday morning but could not sleep and my stomach was not happy with me. Probably the spicy food had night before, lol. Going to VA for next weekend (family trip). Maybe in a tree Nov 4th after work. If not, will be out Nov 6 for my first sit of the year. Latest first sit I've ever had but should be prime time. In 2017 my first sit was Oct 26 or 27 and shot a 9 point after being in stand a little over an hour. Happens to be my last bow kill as well, lol. Should be getting good these next couple of days!

I'm taking the day off work and hunting most the day. Suppose to have heavy rain late this evening. So going in mid morning to do some spot and stalk on some doe bedding. I got 2 bedding areas to check out. Will probably take all day. Just going to have fun with it and try and take a deer from the ground this evening.

Atta boy Holt... the last 3 deer I've taken have been from the ground (along with the first 20 or so)
That's the way us old guys hunted back in the 60's.

Do you usually just hide in a bush or are you flat out in the open?

I usually try to find a blow down and climb inside (between all the branches in the top). The other thing I do is try to find 3 trees real close together (that are in a triangle-like position) and stand in the middle of them. If I'm hunting near a field... I'll crouch down or sit on my 3-legged stool in a hedgerow.

Next time I go out, imma go for ground level. Either use a ground blind with small foldable chair, or set chair up in some brush.
That tree stand wasn't exactly compound bow friendly, and I wouldn't mind mixing it up a little, try different things this first year out.

I actually prefer ground hunting. The only deer I ever lost was from a treestand, and it was the only one I ever hit from one. Ground hunting to me is more advantageous to delivering a more lethal shot, and achieving a pass-thru.
Plus, I suffer from anxiety (from 3 TBIs in the military) and I'm afraid of heights.

I wonder if it'll stop raining by Nov 6th? This is ridiculous!
