Took a good 10 minutes to calm nerves after. Turns out i kissed it. Arrow has small amount of blood and couple pieces of meat and hair on it.
Yeah cant say i thought to practice closer and anticipate ducking so much. Now i know to aim heart/low lung as opposed to mid lung.
If the 8 points are back in the morning ill take a crack at em.

That's what I was talking about a couple day ago about shooting deer at a feeder. They are super jumpy! Could you imagine if it was 40 yards, that thing would duck and be 10 feet away before your arrow even gets there! Lol

GrowingDeer.tv put out a video explain deer dropping etc. Seems to be more of a drop when there head is down feeding. As they bring the head up their back drops. I try to always aim at heart area as well for this reason.

Glad to see that you are in the deer and getting shot opportunities. I am sure it will all come together for you.

So who is going to be next to knock one down?

    Let's keep this ball rolling!

The plan for me right now is to boil the buck skull this Sunday. Then my buddy is going to stop by Sunday evening after he is done hunting. Not sure if he will score it there or take it with him. So by Monday I should have all the measurements.

Then next week I'm back on doe patrol. I did buy another buck tag, so going to hold onto that for something special.

I decided to take the family goose hunting tomorrow afternoon (it's opening day here in MI tomorrow). Camping next weekend and then plan on Deer hunting at least every Saturday after that.

That is exactly what i was hoping to do this morning...break the ice, go through full process of shooting on live target, just enjoy the experience without worrying about bringing anything back.
I will try to at least keep this thread updated. Dont have great service out there, and am not one to go crazy and post everywhere between here and half acre about the experience.

Just got in the stand for the evening. Bumped 4 does on my way back. None of them blew thankfully. Probably the warmest weather I've hunted. 74° right now. Leaves falling all around me.

Once the temps cool a little more I will be on doe patrol. Suppose to be really warm this weekend here. Next weekend will be better temps.
