Wow! That is crazy. Did you see him on his feet yesterday to confirm he was still alive? Or just going by what his body looked like?
Awesome buck and what a story! You seem to have some interesting adventures lol. I remember when we were teammates a few years ago and you tracked down another wounded buck and finished him off.
Holy cow...or i guess Deer in this case. 18 days? That is an incredible amount of time to fiend off death. That is definitely a rack worth holding on to and sharing... Congrats on finding him and not losing hope you would.
Just going off from the condition of him. He was still limp as a noodle. And nothing had touched him yet. Still warm. Can't believe I found him like that. Craziest thing I have ever been through with hunting. It reminds me of when you leave a deer over night and find him the next day. He was in that condition. He was completely skin and bones, he was living off his body, what a will this deer had! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
In my entire hunting life I have never seen anything like it. Haven't even heard a story like it. Some how things like this just happen to me. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
That is just crazy! I agree with body condition. From what his coat and eyes look like in pic he hasn't been dead for long. What a wild twist to this story and glad you can now put it to rest.
I haven't stop thinking about it for 2 1/2 weeks. The whole reason I went back out this morning. I just couldn't let it go. Now I got closure and can let my mind rest. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Well if I ever find myself in situations where I am struggling to get past or come to terms with after shooting a deer, i know who to call now. Just wow!!!
Crazy start to the season for the team. Congrats on the nice bucks. I will hopefully be out once or twice between Thursday and Sunday. I pulled some cards today and have 3 bucks regularly passing through. All about the same size. One looks a little more mature than the others. This is my target buck until I get one nicer on camera. I usually get 2 more pop up around rut. Sent from my SM-G965U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Congratulations Holt on an outstanding buck. What a TOAD! And that's why I liked hunting in MD down south of you... only I only got doe.
So I was trying to score this buck and having a hard time with a couple tines. On the one side it has a common base tine and I'm not sure how to measure. So I have a buddy that is a official scorer, so this weekend I was going to give him the deer to score it. So probably will be next week before I post him to the score card. You can see what I'm talking about in this pic. His g2 has a common base tine coming out and depending on were you measure, it can be a 3 inch difference. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
I wouldn't sell yourself short on it for sure. Better to get someone else to verify the score. Still can not believe how it all happened though.
You know, I was going to ask how you would score that...my hunch tells me you are supposed to measure the tine to the "mid-line" on the main beam. What gets me is how would you measure the diameter between the tines? Be interested to see what your buddy says and how it ends up scoring. Post score card if possible once he gets through with it.
He is a certified B&C and P&Y scorer. So what ever he gets is final. I will post his score sheet for the contest. I will post what I got also just for comparison. Will be interesting to see how close I got. The problem I'm having is its not considered a true common point. So makes it a non typical point. So what I'm having problems with it were is the origin of the point and the mass measurement. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
