That was the plan for last Tuesday, to look for birds and locate the body. Didn't expect to possibly kick him up after almost 3 days. I went yesterday again for 3 hour's looking, but again nothing. I really think I know the property he is on, but at this point I don't have permission. Still working on that.

Will everyone's season be open by this weekend?

I'm going after a 2nd doe this week, that way I can process 2 deer at same time and make less mess. My goal is 4 deer for the freezer.

October 1 here in Illinois. Hoping to find an early season doe as well to debone and start stuffing the freezer!

Still working on getting everything together and organized. We just moved in August so I’m still finding things here and there lol.

Might be doing the same this year. We’ve been looking for a house for 6 months. Put an offer in on farmhouse with 14 acres of cat tail marsh and some woods. Very “Bucky” lol. If our offer is accepted we will be closing on the house late oct early Nov. will suck for moving but should be able to still get a few days hunting

That sounds like a dream. I love hunting marsh. Hey it would be worth the move in November to gain a life time of hunting!

Totally agree! We walked a little bit of the property and I already have a potential buck bedding area. Thick nasty saplings bunched together with several rubs leading into it. Less than 150 yards from the house, lol. Just hoping everything comes together with the rest of the house.

:bow:Archery season in NY starts Friday... but not Xbow
With our 'superior' equipment, we must wait until Nov 6th :hater::hater::hater:

Well to be fair, it is a bit more superior to a compound. But to play the other side of the coin, those that can't use a compound (or trad./long/recurve) kind of get left in the dark. So its like if you have to wait, why bother using a xbow, why not just use a rifle then.
I didnt have a xbow couple weeks ago, but for some reason my brother in law felt it upon himself to buy me one.
I do not intend to hunt deer with that, but here in TX, I will have no qualms using that sucker to go after hogs.

I have to agree... it is a bit superior to a compound and yes, we do get left in the dark. I enjoy(ed) hunting in [regular] archery season. Mornings are cool and crisp, and afternoons are warm and comfortable - and you get to experience nature in a leisurely kind of way. Things slow down (until the rut kicks in... then it gets real exciting). I don't know how many times I've taken a nap in the woods during archery season only to wake up and find myself surrounded in deer. Hunting with a Xbow in November is cold and sometimes downright un-enjoyable, and during those times I've asked myself the same question you did. Why not just use a rifle?

I get a rifle deer or two (or three) annually... only gotten one with the Xbow in 3-years of using it. It can get depressing.
So the reason I jumped back on the website and signed up for the contest was to get on a team, and get my butt back out there to try and contribute to its score! I'm finding myself more energized this year because of that.

So, as sad as NY's archery season laws are... I'm anxiously awaiting Nov 6th!
Xbow season here may be short... but I'm gonna give it all I got for the team!!!

Then I'm gonna go out with the rifle... :chewy:

Well I'm glad you signed up this year. Awesome that you still have the drive to get out there and use archery for rifle season. I do the same here during MD rifle season, I don't get the same joy shooting a deer with a gun. I did a few years ago because of a medical problem. I missed a big chunk of season and just needed some meat. So went out and shot a doe.

Gonna get out this evening with my dad. Don’t have real high hopes but I don’t miss opening day/weekend with my dad if at all possible!
