I use this one and it has proven to be a useful tool for me. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hunting-calendar/id337875411?mt=8 Nothing is fool-proof of course. I've seen decent movement when it said that it would be a bad day and there have been times that it said it would be a great day and didn't see much. Still, it's proven to be strangely accurate.
It is just another tool to look at. I believe hunt when you can. You are not going to kill something while sitting on your couch.
Well guys, I've decided to NOT go out tomorrow morning. I'm not a fan of hunting in warm temps. It's supposed to be 80 degrees for a high, and humid. It will be in the mid 60's in the early morning, and humid. If I were to get a hit on a deer, it's at least a 4 hour ordeal before i can even get it on ice. I worry about the meat spoiling, especially if it's a mid morning hit. The last thing I want is for a deer to go to waste at my hands. Saturday is looking the same way. Monday is looking a bit better, I might go out for a afternoon hunt.
Crank up da heat man, bring on the humidity. I will be in the SWAMP come Saturday morning. I'm to fired up to miss opening day! I wanna kill something! Oh, my bad. That's not politically correct. "Im going to harvest, catch, take down" Nahh, im gonna Kill SOMETHIN Sent from my LG-E980 using Tapatalk
Joe, I'm sure you know I was just kidding around with the "slacker" comment. I'm loaded up and ready to head back to Kentucky tomorrow at 11:30. I know it's going to be warm and I know it's not supposed to be great according to my app, but I'm going to hunt hard for a velvet buck. You never know..... The wind is forecast to be out of the south there this weekend, which isn't good. Well, the spot where the bigger bucks are traveling is easy. I just have to go in and get in a tree 15 yards north of the trail and I've already located a good one, although its a hickory tree and I hate those. The tree I've been in is on the south side of the trail, which won't work unless the smell from the cattle pasture to the south is unbearable, in which case I won't worry much about it. The spot where I almost closed the deal last Thursday is totally out with a south wind. The deer come almost exclusively from the north. I do still have the spot we call the "T woods" where they cleared some of the timber and planted late beans. That might be a good alternate location. I'll have to go in an collect my stand from the primary spot when I first get there though and scramble to find a good location in the "new" wood edge. It's fun playing cat and mouse with these guys during the early season.
Yeah, I totally know you were joking! I joke around constantly myself, but am always taken wrong on the forums! Safe travels to the hunting grounds this morning! and KILL!!!!!!
I'm selling my climber, so there is no temptation to use it. just an FYI https://forums.bowhunting.com/threads/summit-viper-w-all-the-popular-add-ons.90483/
Wait, you were joking all those times? I'm joking...I think we have similar senses of humor...I just don't take shower selfies.
OK my good buddy, Smitty 0220, inspired me, so I'm going out tomorrow morning!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Damn straight! You are the captain of this vessel ! And here is another vote for no shower selfies! ROTFLMAO
Okay. Back on my stand in Kentucky. The bucks haven't been back in front of the camera yet. That could be a good thing. The wind is all over the map. I think they call that "light and variable". In my limited experience that simply means that my scent will lightly vary its way to the nose of the nearest deer. That's how it usually works.
Can't wait for the morning!!! I'll be posting quite frequently on the "live from the stand thread!" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Headed to the ridge for the last time until season opens. I will be checking the camera I have there and freshening up mock scrapes and putting a camera on a dripper!!!! Also gonna check my stand and make sure it's good to go. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
