Well…out of bed at 0445 Out the door at 0530 Passed a motorist who had hit a deer…there were other vehicles there so I didn’t stop but I thought…great a 1/2 mile from my stand & the deer are jumping in front of cars….probably a shooter too In stand by 0548…saw two deer walking to the stand as the huge moon cascade a glow onto the field. At 0723 a doe came from the west (my right as I face south) & stopped at 8 yards My shooting lane is to my left as I’m right handed. She stood there & eventually walked away without giving me any type of a shot. I’m giving it until 0930 & I have chores to do before the heat arrives. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Want it? Not really, have done it the past 11 years. New position at work has me tied up until the evenings. My days of reading LFTS "live" are over for all but the weekends I won't have the time or energy I've had in the past. I'll do it if no one else wants it, but am not volunteering for it this year.
I’d be happy to have mud as the captain, after being a captain the last 3 years I’ll take a break. Nine tines works for me. Got out Wednesday and finished checking straps, trimmed the last few stands, and put up what should be a killer set up in an amazing pinch that should result in some fresh meat! Checking in. Long overdue for a big buck, so likely the year to contribute in a big way. Also hunting doe early so, hope to add there as well. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Been out setting up stands and tweaking cameras the last two weeks. In PA, we start in about 28 days and I’m pumped!!! No major bucks on camera yet this year but that never concerns me. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
We are all checked in folks. I think that settles it. Team name: Nine Tines Captain: MUDSHARK Sent from my SM-S908U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'll be out this week finalizing stands and cameras. And we'll be setting a new stand super close to a major bedding area in a staging area before they make their way to food sources. This is the most aggressive I've been, but it's time. I'm not eating tag soup like last year, and I think this will be a good move/ stand location once it gets hot and heavy in the rut. Won't over hunt it and leave it for the right time. Sent from my SM-S908U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I wanted to add a little now that I have a minute on my laptop and not my phone. - I'm hunting northeast PA - Almost exclusively public land. I've been that way my entire life...I'm about 45-46 years old (I spotted counting) - I do get a chance to hunt with a buddy on private land once in a while and when I do, I generally try to target a doe, as the land owner would like the reduced. - I usually take a week off at the start of the rut, hunt 5-7 days straight - Take my compound 90% of the time. Once in a while I take the crossbow. Mainly when I am targeting a doe. - Once archery is over, I hunt rifle. Once rifle is over, I go back to archery and black powder from Jan 1 - end of Jan. Lot of time to take down a doe. There is always limited time to tag a buck.
My season in IL starts October 1st. What's everyone else's start date? Sent from my SM-S908U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
October 1st is the day here in Michigan as well. We do have an early doe “season” that’s the weekend of the 16th and 17th. So if the weather does what the forecast says I’ll be out both morning and evening on the 17th in a couple low impact high probability spots. A buddy and myself talked about doing a 4 day early season trip to Missouri before our late October hunt but that’s all up in the air. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Oct 1 also here in IL. Just finishing getting cams ready now. Zero intel this year so far. As soon as it cools down i will start deploying. I have a couple of stands to hang and trim as well. We are now on week 3 or 4 of no rain. Food plots are most likely rough.
