I have been trying for sure. Was out last week evenings a bunch and just no real luck. I am almost at the point in the season where I switch to buck only. When that happens, I will revisit doe in the late season after Christmas. It's hard to shoot the live bait as pre-rut kicks in!
What’s up 9 times?! Service has been in and out but I’m at the gas station right now grabbing some beer. The weather has been absolutely terrible but we’re seeing some deer. One of the guys in our group shot a decent buck this morning and we found him around 3 this evening after backing out this morning. I’ve found some hidden spots that are holding deer and some of those being substantial animals, it’s just a cat and mouse game. I opted out of tonight’s hunt because the high for today was 81*. But with that being said I found amazing sign this morning right outside my f know bedding areas from the past. When rain comes tomorrow I’m going to sneak into one of those spots, wind dependent. After I scouted this morning I stopped at some private property and was fortunate enough to strike a deal on 120 acres which will hopefully be a long term relationship. When I drove past that property this morning I was able to to see 10-12 deer in a front road side corn field. Even though it’s staying hot for the week the best is yet to come! Forget, how long are you there for? You planning on hunting the new private land or is that an in the future deal?
Saw a 4x4 this morning at 9 yards but he was about 9 minutes too early as legal time was not until 0716 hours Nothing since Climbing down Humidity is really nasty & rain is coming this afternoon & the next two days Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will be here until Saturday. I’m going to hunt the private some and a couple public spots some for the remainder of the trip. I’ve never been so happy for rain to come tonight just for a change in the weather pattern, temp drops just a bit so we’re staying hopeful. So close Brett, stay after it! i have Bucks fighting on my trail cams. more and more pics of bucks on the cams also, the bucks fighting are 2 - 1 1/2 olds either not legal and not interested in shooting
Not going out today rain/thunderstorms today with high around 70. Supposed to rain for the next 4 or 5 days with highs around 70. Then it's going to severely cool off! Like highs of 43 with lows in the 20's. That's when I'll be in stand! My time off of work starts the 29th!
I'm out now. Took yesterday off to let that buck get over me bumping him out of the field. Plus I was able to get some yard work done. Mulched leaves and mowed the lawn. It's warm tonight also. 71 when I climbed up a tree tonight. It's 69 now. Winds 11 mph still sw
I also stayed home this morning with the threat of lightning in the sky However the same 4x4 walked by at 0730 hours and then a doe at 0830. I need an additional camera on my mock scrape to see if it’s working….guess I’ll go to Cabelas soon I will be in stand tomorrow morning as a cold front arrives tomorrow afternoon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Team. The time has come and I’m more than likely hunting all of next week. My number one buck showed up today on camera around 4am and I know they are starting to move. In PA, I’ve found I have a much greater chance pre-rut vs rut so, next week should be prime time for that. I’m beyond excited. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I blew it today on a 8 pt, spread is about 18 inches , he wasn't to heavy horned but he would have done well for me. Probably 110 - 120. Real nice for the deer around me. I rattled and grunted this morning starting at 715 to 745. Not hard but just tickled the tines, and grunted a few times in that time span. The buck was coming from the south with wind behind him blowing to me. Grabbed the bow and he was looking for the bucks that was fighting and grunting. He was at 38 yards and moved to 33 when he was in some tree branches , I couldn't shoot. I needed 7-10 yards and felt a tickle in my thought. I tried to hold it but I couldn't. I coughed and then I reached for my snot rag and stuck my face into it and coughed. He looked around then trotted off West and south. I suck at this sometimes. Hopefully I didn't bugger him to bad
I’m headed to Missouri next Wednesday to hunt with Little Chief for 4 days Let’s hope!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Back in a stand. Went back to the same spot. As yesterday and my coughing spat. We shall see what happens.
