well this weekend was absolutely sickening to say the least. Got up in a new tree saturday morning and when the sun started coming up it looked beautiful. Small but open pinch point surrounded by thick bedding with a few hundred acres of unhuntable property behind me i was sure to see deer. this being a spot Id seen alot of rutting activity in the past i decided to hit the horns together and grunt a bit. the sequence sounded incredible, no mistakes at all and figured i might fool something so i stood up and grabbed my bow. Just then a gun shot rang out, then another, then another, and 10 minutes later another... fall turkey hunters. I was sick to my stomach after hauling all my gear in and climbing up and having this all happen at first light. The morning was perfect, that kind of morning when you sit in the tree and say "this is it". I was so angry i just climbed down and went to bed. Weather turned for the worst in the evening pouring rain and high winds so didnt even go out. My weekly hunt was completely screwed. 4 more sits for me.. not looking good.

Didn't see anything but about 5or6 coyotes right at last light.not going today. Been raining some already, the girlfriend is off work and I need to get some things straightened out for insurance which should prove to be interesting.

Sorry to hear the turkey hunters/weather ruined your weekend. How much longer are you in season for?

Good luck with the insurance. Sounds like the coyotes are going down almost as much as the deer right about now.

Keep your head up Jace - only takes a minute to make it the best season ever. Stay positive and hunt hard until the end...

Looking forward to my days off and a long weekend. Picking up my Elk hunting buddy from Utah at airport Wed night 8:45 and heading to the cabin for deer camp, my Dad and some other buddies will be staying some nights as well. 6 straight days of hunting - will only miss Fri evening and Sat morning hunts as I have a fundraising commitment that runs late into Friday night. Weather looks seasonable with highs 50's lows 30's...moon is right and activity is picking up. Two buddies did take nice bucks on Sunday so they are obviously moving more in daylight...

I'll be able to post updates on phone...hoping for a BBD and BDD...:)

Tim - good idea - I will try to do. I always enjoy looking at the pics I take of elk camp or vacations...but never seem to take pics of deer camp as its something we've done forever. Some of my buddies and I have been doing deer camps for 20 years and I realize we almost never took pictures - sure wish we would have taken one group shot each year just to look back and laugh at ourselves.
Most deer camps have been opening weekend and are more camping/grilling/games than hunting...looking forward to this weekend as it's one of the few times I have ever camped during the rut and my vacation days - anxious to hunt hard.

Should get to cabin about 9:30 tonight...and ready to hunt in the A.M.

Good luck to all those getting out in the coming days - it is time to put some deer down! Be safe...

I'm up in the stand in a spot where I've consistently seen does this season. I saw a few good rubs on the way in but there weren't really in the area I'm hunting. I'm hoping the bucks will be chasing the does. The wind is in my face for the most part but it's picking up and getting pretty gusty. The weather is supposed to be horrible tomorrow so I'm not going out. This is my third sit this week. I saw a small 6 getting chased by something bigger but I couldn't tell how big. After that a spike I've been seeing walked by. Other than that i really haven't been seeing much since early October. I'll let you guys know how I make out tonight.
