Sounds like a good weekend all the way around for team 9!! ehh....I think I'm gonna earn a few brownie points with my wife, and NOT hunt tomorrow am...even though it could be the best/coldest/frostiest morning yet, and screams for a lot of action,,,lol,,im gonna stay in! I have my Illinois trip coming up, leaving a week from today. it would be kinda hard on the wallet to pay the butcher and taxidermist a few days BEFORE I go on my trip, considering what I might be coming home with. plus it will give my area a week plus of safe pressure free chasing which could set me up great for the full rut when I return! good luck to all of those who go out! Can't wait to see what the rest of the season holds for team 9!!

Well since I've been quite lately I figure I'd give ya'll an update
I put a ground blind out at my house along with some corn an apples an have been hunting there every morning I've been seeing deer about every sit mostly does. I missed a shot opertunity today due to a stupid reason my butt was hurting so I got off the sit-n-spin bucket an stretched out on the ground well I was out like a light for about 45 minutes when I woke up 2 does at 15 yards so I tried to ease into my chair and get my bow well I did but they heard me moving they couldn't see me but they knew something wasn't right so they were on edge an from outta nowhere Flys in two crows an they scared the deer off and they never came back. I work second so I get home around 12 an so getting up at 4:45 has been rough an it caught up with me today but I do believe I'll be able to take a doe before long hopefully in the morning an hopefully I can find a comfortable chair for the blind so I can sit longer. My backside still hurts lol. But I'm seeing deer at on my little 3 acres so I can't complain. As soon as I get a better picture of the buck that showed up last night I'll share it.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get the story posted of my doe kill, just been very busy.

The hunt took place on Tuesday October 22nd. The spot I choose to hunt that day was the NW corner of a standing cornfield. I was about 20 yards south of the corner and about 10 yards into the woods. I was all settled into my stand around 4:30pm with a light wind coming out of the WNW and blowing my scent out into the middle of the cornfield. After about 5 minutes I heard something behind me and turned and saw some turkeys coming down the edge of the cornfield. After about another 5 minutes I looked back there to see if the turkeys were still coming and there stood a young deer. I slowly turned back and looked the other way around the tree and saw that another young deer and a large doe were behind the first one. I got my camera in position and slowly stood up keeping my eyes on the deer to make sure they weren't watching me stand. After feeding towards me the big doe decided to feed down the hill to an oak in the bottom. I continued to watch them hoping they would then come back up through the corner and out to the field. As I was watching them I heard something walking in front of me and turned a saw a deer standing behind a downfall but already in bow range. I turned my camera to where I thought the deer would enter the field and got ready. The first deer was a young deer but I noticed that there was a larger deer following it so I just let the first one walk into the field. As soon as the second deer got close to entering the field I drew back and waited for her to take a couple more steps. It seemed like forever because she was sniffing the grass that I had walked through but finally decided it was safe to walk out into the field. She took a couple steps and I released my arrow. Ended up double lunging her and she went about 40 yards and stopped and then did a 30 yard death run and tipped over. Here are a couple pics and the video of the hunt.

Out at the Corp ground this morning. At the edge of a bean field overlooking a scrape. Looks like the scrape was freshened in the last few hours. I can smell it from 20 yards away. Could see deer in the fields as I walked by this morning. None Spooked though. Winds dead right now. Hopefully something passes by.

Good luck! Was going to be out bright and early this morning but ended up staying up until after 1am putting a new battery in my wife's van so she could go to work on Saturday and run her other errands. Thank goodness for Walmart being open 24hrs/day...my wife's happy because she has her van and I am happy since she didn't have to take my car so I can hunt :) Good luck to all hunting this weekend!

Well nothing so far. Wind just started. Was supposed to be sw which would be great but it's nw which kind of sucks. Not the end of the world though. Going to give it about another hour. Going to go see if the corns cut yet. If yes I'll be sticking another stand up today.

Well this morning didn't pan out. Went to my parents took a nap and ate. Just got set up on private ground. Was going to go to my dad's blind but changed my mind last minute so I am in a stand overlooking some Creek bottoms. N wind warm and sunny. Not expecting much till last light. Kind of the M.O. for this place.

Got out last night but didn't see anything. The wind was insane. Must have been having 30+ MPH gusts. The tree was swaying like crazy.

Alright. Winds starting to calm down. The sun has dipped under the trees. No idea why. Am probably dead wrong but I have a good feeling about the next hour and 20 minutes.

Now that I'm out of season and it's starting to get colder, I'm starting to see the deer in the neighborhood. These guys were on the side of the road about an hour ago (link to the dropbox picture. I'm not getting it to upload https://www.dropbox.com/s/pvq90djqmgq3x03/2013-10-26 17.35.20.jpg). And then, I found out that where I was in the early season is producing some big late season bucks. And my father in law found a road right up into the canyon. So, I'm definitely putting in for the late tag.

Glad to at least hear that you are ok. I'm sure that it was a little hairy with a swaying tree.

Sorry my phone decided not to let me post. Anyway I ended up seeing several does none that offered good shots and little 8 point that posed for me just smaller than I would go after this early. It says a great evening in the woods though

Went out this afternoon and saw one on the neighbors land at last light. Not sure what it was. Pretty windy all afternoon.

Great morning so far other than an accidental detour on the way to the blind. I'm not super familiar with this part of the woods. This is usually my dad's hangout. Seen 3 bucks so far. 2 basket rack 8s and a ten

Hopefully that ten point presents a shot.

It was a basket ten as well. Actually pretty sure it was his first rack. Little body. About 30 minutes ago i got busted by does while maneuvering for a shot. Had all the windows in the blind open which was dumb because it silhouetted me big time with all the light coming through. Lesson learned.
