I may try to get out with one of the boys, not sure if either of them can sit still enough to close the deal on a doe, or I may go out and try for another doe.

There is always gun season, the goal for that would be to do clean up on any wounded deer running around, doesn't happen much around us but it is a possibility, also could see if I could maybe see one of the monsters that are supposedly running around in the neighborhood, but honestly, 1 buck a year is enough for me, takes time to grow up to the age I want to hunt and if I am not shooting them with a gun, they have a chance to make it till next year (like the one I took last nite, just about positive I passed on him last season, 20-25 yards, and had the pin on him at full draw while he walked the trail for about 20 yards, as close to a sure thing as you can get w/o pulling the trigger I guess)

That's a good score. And I believe we are the only team with two bucks right now! Still in second before you posted your score!

Did a little shooting today. The Quickfletch made good on their "tighten groups" claim. I had a real nice tight group going through most of my session. The vanes on one did get caught in the carpet and ripped on the way out, so I'm down to 5 that are fletched. But all my arrows are cut to the same length, so doing more shouldn't be a problem. I did change stabalizers to an 8" so I'll have some sight adjustments to do. I wish that I could have gottent some pictures to upload. I have a good one of the mountain range that I hunted, with snow.

Good luck to the guys out there!

I love re-reading that story. I feel like I'm right there with you. Both your story and Joe's video made me feel like I was right there with you.

Wow guys this is the first time this has happened to me in my 9 years of bow hunting. Both morning and afternoon hunts i got completely skunked! The weather today was awful, rain all morning, then it hit 81 degrees by the time i was walking to the stand in the afternoon, which of course was all up hill. I was drenched in sweat and probably stunk to high heaven. After 7 hours in a tree I saw 5 turkey and a raccoon the size of a koala bear. I have a doctors appointment monday at 1 so im staying home sunday and getting out monday morning looking for a doe, or any deer at that!

Hopefully I can get a doe close, ive never had this problem before and just need that first deer to break the curse. Ill keep you updated guys.

That's crazy on getting skunked. I think I'd like to have a little of your luck if that's the first time in 9 years that it happened! Hopefully everything turns out alright Monday.

Double wammy, around here it is tough to go out in rain, seems to do funny stuff to your scent, regardless of what you do (I like to think of it as wet dog syndrome)

As for hunting in the heat, do you use a cover spray? used dead down wind for the last few years with varying results, thinking that an enzyme based spray goes bad after awhile (new spray is clear, year old spray is yellowish) so switched to scent killer this year (cheaper) i spray down before each hunt and if hot out will dowse liberally when I get to the stand, also use the usual carbon, along with a base layer of silver infused clothing.

Had 75 degrees out on Wednesday with about a mile walk in, packed in my coat, but wore the pants out, saw 11 does and fawns and 9 of them came in directly downwind of me (one doe even walked between the ladder and the tree)

Firm believer in cleaning up and trying to control how I smell, you aren't going to become invisible scent-wise, but you can think you can make them think you are farther away than you actually are.

That's one area that I am looking on improving. I do feel that I gave my scent away this year. I sprayed once when we got into the field. I basically just rolled out of bed and went to the field.

Getting ready to head out for day two of the youth hunt. Yesterday we saw some turkeys and kicked up two deer while we were walking. Other than that we just got soaked at the end of the day :) Will post some pics of the first day later on. Good luck to everyone hunting today!

ya....rain didn't miss....direct hit...LOL didn't see anything, got drenched, climbed down around 8am cause I was cold from being soaked. did some scouting looked for some early rubs. found a few small ones, and didn't want to go deep into the swamp where the big boys play, so I made up a mock scrape on the buck run, hung a digital scrape dripper (the one with 2 chambers) hopefully that will get some things kickin!! got some footage of the process, enough for my 5 minute video! now its couch time for some football!!

Well, took my second oldest this morning, beautiful day but only deer spotted was a tail behind the stands when walking in...felt great to get out. The morning started out great, when I woke my son he sat right up in bed and said "I love this time of year"...you can say that again:)

I somehow missed this post! Thanks Tim, I'ts a lot of fun. but it does make the hunt more difficult, trying to find a tree where I can see the deer coming and have time to get the camera to an area to shoot! I go up a bit higher than normal to compensate for the extra movement. I did upload this weeks video already today seeing as it was raining, I had nothing else to do!
