GUYS IM SOO PUMPED! finally leaving school tomorrow night at 5pm to get home and geared up for the FIRST DAY. Ive been waiting for this moment since last season ended in January. Best part is, looks like ill be hunting right between two storm systems. Its supposed to thunderstorm tomorrow night , then isolated storms on sunday. Im hoping this will have the deer on their feet to feed in between the storms. Should be a great day to hunt saturday, but its going to be hot as Hades im looking at a low of 62 and high of 81 :(. I could care less though im just pumped to get in a tree and will more than likely get a crack at a doe.

1 Day 7 hours till I'm in a tree. Havent been this excited since, oh I dont know, a year ago hahhaha!

    Luke & Travis,
Love to hear that you will be spending some time hunting with kids this weekend...my first hunts and tag-a-longs are still very vivid memories. Beats the hell out of video games...GOOD LUCK!

Tim - think this afternoon's hunt is scratched as we are looking at high of 89 today (and son is having some buddies stay overnight for birthday party), but storming Sat, and high of only 60 Sunday...plan to get out either Sunday morning or afternoon.
Sure feel like I'm not contributing to team, but trust me, come late Oct I should be updating you on plenty of hunts.

    Tim,
Think my arrows are 28.75", I shoot a 100gr BH, but I also added a 50 grain brass insert for extra weight. I first started this on my first elk hunt when I only shot a 60lb bow - I added 100gr inserts that year. The extra penetration was undeniable (all deer were pass throughs), and it noticeably made bow quieter. Went to 70lb bow 2yrs ago, and still wanted some extra arrow weight and tip weight (higher forward of center)...so went with 50 gr inserts. Again, very happy with arrow flight and penetration. It blows through deer and did very well on my elk (and I shoot expandables now). It does cause arrow to slow a little faster so my pin gap widened slightly with extra 50gr. In then end, shoot whatever makes you feel confident - and for deer sized game any combination will work fine - most important thing is practice and hit where you aim:)

Going to be going out in the morning. First cold snap here. Supposed to get down into the 30s tonight. Went up to some Corp of Engineers ground and set up a tree stand along a bean field over a scrape a few days ago. We'll see what comes by.

Good luck out there! I know that I feel you on looking forward to the next season. I have until March before I can put in for next year.

I can't wait for my kids to be old enough to hunt. I don't want them to grow up, but I do. My oldest will be 5 in a few weeks! Hopefully you and your boy make some memories and put some bucks down!

Thanks for the insight Matt. I have to do a little research and figure out what grain my inserts and nocks are. I believe that the arrows are 8.9 per inch. Other than knowing my arrow weight, I'd like to get that balance for lighted nocks next year.

Here's the technical specs on my arrows - Insert 21 gr, Nock 13 gr, arrow 8.4 gpi, spine 400 stiffness +/-0.006. Cabela's said that any nock that can fit in a 0.240" inside diameter will fit these arrows. Do you guys know which lighted nocks will fit that?

Judging by the lack of activity, most of the team was in the field today. Hopefully it was a good day. Let's hear some stories!

Just getting the last few things ready for tomorrows youth hunt. Hopefully the heavy rains stay away or if they do come end before morning.
