I hope so too. That ridge is a sweet spot. Don't need some trespasser scenting it up for me.

Well guys 5 days 6 hours till im in a tree I can hardly wait. Ive been thinking about where i want to hunt and I cant decide. I have two really good spots and only a few pics of shooters throughout the whole summer. I scouted one area for a second time last weekend and jumped 3 monsters out of it. The only bummer is they only bed on that property so its going to be hard getting in and leaving without bumping them. I think im going to hunt that spot for the first morning, I figure your best chance at shooting a giant is the first day when they are on their patterns still. So ill be down in a thick creek bottom hoping to shaft one on his way back to an afternoon nap :).
After seeing those bucks i put a trail cam up in some crab apples in the same creek bottom to see if i could get any pix of the bucks i saw before. I came back from college to find tracks all around the camera and was pumped to see the pix only to find some nimrod jacked my SD card from it  so i have no pix of the last week. Im pretty jacked about it too because that means someone was on the property for one messing things up, and for two thats an SD card gone and now they know what may be lurking in the abyss.

This is my first year with the trad bow so im really eager to shoot a deer so in the afternoon im heading to my best doe stand and hopefully i can get one in my 20yard max and put 50 points on the board. Id say i have a really good shot but well see.

Best of luck to all in the field this week

That sucks about the cards! Hopefully you are able to get one using traditional gear. That's a heck of a challenge! Can't wait to hear all about it

Jace - tough break on the SD card - but promising on the sign you are seeing. Good luck with the trad gear - I love shooting my recurve, just haven't made the time yet to dedicate to taking a deer...but it will happen someday. I also still get too much enjoyment shooting my Bowmadness. Anxious to see that trad bow laying on a deer!

Joe - this is the place to vent. You are putting in the effort - looking forward to more of your videos.
You said you are hunting IL also this season correct? What part of the state?

You guys need to check out which team is in first place after todays update! Team 9 baby...

I do know that Team 14 has a huge buck to be checked in still so they'll be jumping up to 350+ points...but sure nice to be where we are this early in the game.

Keep after those deer everyone - and have fun!

Not sure which camera you have but alot of the trail cams have an internal storage where it saves "x" amount of pics even if you don't have a SD card in. You would have to pull your camera and hook it up to your computer to see the pics. You may even have a pic of the person that swiped your SD card.

Oct 1st is here in IL! This is my 21st year of bowhunting and the first year that I won't be able to get out on the opener (although some years it was just taking the kids out for a walk around with bow in hand). But...times change...still love the feeling of knowing its Oct, my favorite season/weather of the year.
I coach our last 2nd grade football game tonight, which will free up a little time then...and my daughter has last soccer this Saturday. Still some Saturday football for my 4th grader (and his select league basketball starts this week)...but I love coaching/watching all their sports so much I just want time to slow down.
Saturday is a total loss for me now - still hopefull for a possible Friday night hunt...but not to worry - I can always pull some strings to squeeze some hunts in, just saving those efforts for colder weather...OK, done complaining...

When does everyone else think they'll get out next?

Tim - we were posting at the same time - no go today unfortunately...but with temps in the mid 80's all week, it won't hurt that bad. If it was 60 and spitting rain - it would be the longest day at work.

I'm assuming everyone on our team is in season at this point, right?

At least it won't sting that bad. I believe that I am the only one not in season now. Doesn't mean I'm done shooting. I have a few finishing touches to put on my range and I need the wind to die down. I'm still hitting the weights and watching what I eat.

What grain of bh/field point are you guys using? I'm running 125 gr with 28" arrows. I'm thinking I might drop it down to 100 gr for next year.

I always used 100 gr with a 28" arrow but this year i had to jump up to a 125 for the recurve
