Change of plans. I'm heading out this afternoon. I'll be getting to the stand late but I figure it's better than nothing. I also took tomorrow off so I'll be doing a two-a-day tomorrow. Wind is PERFECT to kill that 8 pointer. I hope tonight's the night.

I love changes in plans. Good luck out there, and just like Matt, I'll be checking in throughout the day.

I'm still at work for an hour and a half. Then I have to run home to shower and change and rush to the woods. I'll keep you posted once I'm in the tree.

Well I moved my stand to where I saw the deer last time I hunted this property. And low and behold...they walked right under the tree I was in...last week. A little frustrating but I'm glad I took tomorrow off to get two more sits in.

Got out last night but got skunked. I took tomorrow off to help 1 of the land owners chop corn. Will be able to sit tomorrow morning.

Just shot a doe. Watched her go down about 60 yards from me. I'm gonna finish out the hunt and see if I can't double up with a buck like last year.

Just some food for thought. The winning team last year checked in/scored 7 does (50pts each) and 8 bucks (averaging 120inches). I am not trying to get ahead of ourselves, just wanted to put the goaline out there for everyone to see - and primarily because I'm enjoying our team thread so much with all the participation that it would be great to pull this off and be back together next year. Not to mention bragging rights and possible prize package from BH.com...

Regardless - continue to have fun and keep posting all the updates. You guys out hunting and especially tagging deer has gotten me all pumped up for IL season. Keep after it!

Tim: thanks for the comments! I'm finding it extremely fun to try and catch the emotions, the up and down and back up again! And I have to admit, I find it fun talking to the camera as if it were my friend up there with me!!!

I finally got a chance to sit. I've been hanging, skinning, quartering, hanging, slicing, cooking, eating and cleaning since I got home. This doe came in with a spike right before 7. They wandered their way within 20 yards. The spike picked me out of the stand and we had a good 2 min staring contest. He was in front and wouldn't give me a shot at the doe. Eventually after a few minutes the doe turned broadside at 23 yards. As I shot she turned but not enough to affect the impact. Double lunged her and got a clean pass through. The blood trail was decent but I didn't have to follow it. I watched her go down and could see her laying from my stand. It feels good to get some weight off my shoulders by getting my first kill of the season. [IMG]

I'll be posting the pics in the scorecard.
