I'm good to go. Unfortunately I'm working nights tonight so I can't hunt this evening or tomorrow morning. I may even pick up over time tomorrow day shift too which may void from from hunting for a whole 48 hours almost.

HAHAHAHAA!!! that is funny **** right there!!!! dam that's good!!!
I'm lovin the activity on our team thread guys, this is definitely the most fun and active team I've been on!!
I'm set to head out Friday night for my first attempt at one of the 2 bucks!!!!! My son and I talked after we saw an orphaned fawn running through our yard and it was actually licking the hood of my car (cause it was warm?) it was so lost and clueless, obviously orphaned...so we talked and I said, this is why I personally don't orphan fawns, and now if we even see one of our target bucks we are going to be lucky. he then surprised me and said, "Dad if you see clockwork I want you to shoot him so at least one of us can get him" I asked him if he was sure about this and he said yes he doesn't want one of the neighbors getting him. I told him that if I did, I would then concentrate all my efforts on him getting a buck by using anyone of my "rut" stands over the scrapes and heavily used buck runs.....
SO THAT BEING SAID!!!!!!!!!! I'm going for clockwork Friday night!!!!!!!!

Took my tracking dog out to try to find a deer shot by Beagle001, who is on another team, trail was 24 hours old the dog picked it up but the deer did three circles in a thick and wet cedar swamp and the dog struggled after the third circle, I believe and hope the deer is still alive. It was a solid 140 inch deer according to Beagle.

I'm heading out this evening. I'm at work till around 5 so I'm gonna shower here and shoot right over to the farm. I'm gonna be hunting a stand I've never hunted before. The landowners nephew shoot a big 13 pointer from it with a rifle few years and I gotta good wind for it so we'll see what happens.

My hunt was downright miserable. I got out of work around 4:45 and made it to the farm I hunt right at 5. The landowner's nephew described to me trough text how to get to his stand. Long story short I had to traverse Japanese hop vine (which is an invasive viney plant with tiny sharp fibers all over the stems) that was up over my head. I am shredded to bits with scrapes all over my body from trying to walk through this stuff. Around 5:45 I gave up. I decided to go to a strip of hardwoods that's between an industrial office building and a big cornfield. The corn is still standing so it was tough to get through, too. I finally made it into this bottle neck and it looked prime. So i sat down on a log blended in with the brush. Within the first 3 minutes if sitting I was getting attacked by Mosquitos. Within the first 5 minutes of sitting I was being SWARMED. I now must have close to 100 bites all over. Every time I would swat them I killed anywhere from 3-7 in a single swat. It was a mental battle to sit there and take the abuse for an hour till sunset. Normally ill sit till dark to see what comes in. Not tonight. I was up and out as SOON as it hit 6:50. So then I figured, what the hell. I'll check the field I hunt across the street and maybe stalk a deer. I get across the street and there was a truck with a middle aged couple in it looking at the huge moon rise over the field. So I did an ethics check and decided it would be best to leave seeing as it was already 7 min after legal shooting light.

All in all, that's hunting. Nights like this are what makes the first-hour-harvests so great. It's tough coming off a season where I was almost tagged out in the first 10 days of the season. Now I'm faced with struggling to see deer.

I'll be back at it in the morning. Not sure which property I'm gonna hunt yet. The wind won't be right to hunt the buck I'm targeting. But one of my other properties holds a few decent bucks per the land owner. I need a beer.

Hang in there Chris! It only takes a few seconds to turn an entire hunting season around...you are putting in the time, it'll happen.

I went out this morning and even though I didn't shoot anything, I had an awesome hunt. It started off bad. I got busted at first light by a doe 20 yards behind me. I had no clue she was there. She was in a clearing and I coulda had her. Then about 30 min later the wind shifted and I got busted by a pair of does who snorted at me for about 5 min.

Then maybe an hour after that I had a really big doe and a yearling come down a trail and stopped at 10 yards. I drew on her but she never turned broadside. She picked me out and they took off.

Then within about ten minutes a spike came down the trail right under the tree and hung out for a bit before wandering off. I passed on him. I'd like to see him grow.

I have it another hour and saw 3 more deer running about 200 yards away. They were downwind and uphill so I think they caught my scent due to the thermal rise. Nonetheless, seeing 9 deer made up for my dismal hunt last night.

    Here's the spike
