To me it's a piece of the puzzle that's been needed since saddle hunting got popular. At the 2022 ATA XOP said they were coming out with one but then scrapped the idea later in the year. This year there have been 3 independent guys who have made an effort to begin marketing this idea. The one I have is called the Panther quick climb. Funny thing is, it was invented by three guys that live right here in my home town. So I'm really hoping they are successful Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Just went to scout a neighboring property. I’ve hunted it a few years and it’s always good for an early season doe. But I know there’s some decent bucks around too. Blue arrow to the SE is pointed at one white oak that has great sign around it next to some very loaded red oaks. Blue arrow to the north is 2-3 loaded white oaks with 2-3 fresh scrapes nearby. The property line is a fence line. And you can see a well worn path down it. Nice part is I can just hop on my atv and hunt it quick. All my other places require a little drive (I know not nearly as bad as some of you who have to drive over an hour or more to hunt). I only have 2 cell cams and they are out on rope scrapes. So I’ll go in here in a couple weeks and see what comes by. Daughter should be able to at least pop a doe with her crossbow.
I’ll be heading out to our property tomorrow morning for an evening hunt. My plan is to put my boys in the 2 best spots and hope they can get a shot at something early on! Can’t wait to get back out into a tree and just enjoy the peace and quiet of the woods!
Well it wasn’t quite as exciting as I was hoping for in the woods, but we at least saw some deer. We had a doe and fawn come out by us, but never came close enough and neither of them were gonna shoot anyway. They were both excited though to see something in their first hunt!
88* today at the pumpkin farm with the family. Rough day for anyone in the woods. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It was 31 degrees this morning at 12,600 feet above sea level. I found myself sitting on the rim of a bowl at first light keeping an eye on 15 elk (6 bulls and 9 cows). It was neat to see and even better to hear a 350 class 6x6 faintly bugling in the distance. I wish I would have had one of those, "beam me over, Scotty" buttons! I could have used it. At 9:09 am, I arrowed a small mule deer buck. The goal was to have a carcass over which I could hunt a black bear. Baiting is illegal in Colorado. but sitting over a carcass is perfectly legal. Mission three: get back up there next weekend and hopefully I'll have a visitor... Since it's a buck, it cannot count as a bonus deer. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forum
Hey Will, a second buck can definitely be entered as a bonus deer. It’s in the rules. Do you have a second pic?
Thanks for the heads up, Chief! I entered the deer moments ago. For some reason I was thinking a bonus deer had to be a doe.
Thanks, Chief. I do enjoy being in the woods with bow in hand. Hope someday I get to share those woods with you! We're not getting any younger and that elk hunting is not easy on us old guys. I am looking forward to arrowing a bear, getting an elk, and the few deer hunts I have back east.
We are halfway through the week, and I am eager to grab my friend from Spain at the airport tomorrow. On Friday, Oscar, my daughter, and I will head back to the high country for deer, elk, and bear. These few days cannot pass fast enough... Hope everyone is well. Keep at it if you are hunting. I wish everyone all the luck!
Got the kids and wife a slushy tonight and drove over to glass a soy bean field. Saw 11 deer out on the field and this buck. Small 8. Hopefully next weekend he will give my daughter a chance.
