Well fellas, I’m getting discharged from the hospital today and I’m headed home! Had 3 surgeries: fused t8-10 in my back, wired my jaw shut, and put pins in my left hand ring finger. First few days were miserable and long. Hurt to move. But when PT came in and started showing me how to maneuver and get out of bed, that was a game changer. Been on a few walks up and down the halls and pushing it. Today I got the green light. And all I can say is God is good. I shouldn’t have lived and I’m alive. For some reason, He decided Oct 21st wasn’t going to be my last day. I get to see my two girls at home today. My wife’s been amazing through all this and so has my church family. They’ve visited, built me some railings, and helped a ton. And hopefully before season ends I’ll be able to hunt again too. I’m gonna push my rehab and see what this body will do. Supposed to be elk hunting in Montana next fall. I haven’t ruled that out yet in my mind, but time will tell. Hope you guys are having a good season. Be grateful for every hunt. It’s a blessing.
Dude, from the looks of your car its definitely a miracle that you survived. I'm glad to hear your recovery is going well so far and you are making progress. I will continue to remember you in prayer and I hope you are able to get back to normal sooner than later. God bless! Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Dang and double dang! That's a nice deer! I'll be east of North Platt by about 15 miles (south of Maxwell and on the Platt River).
Back out this morning in a misty rain hoping I don’t get too soaked. Rut activity has definitely been picking up the last few days so I’ve got my fingers crossed a nice one makes a mistake for me.
Russ l, I’m glad the surgeries went well. Thank you for the reminder of what we tend to take for granted. Get strong for your elk hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
In the stand this morning in central Illinois. Private property. Very wet this morning. Rain stopped about 30 minutes before legal light. Did some early grunting and rattling. Nothing yet. Hoping the weather change gets them on their feet. Here til Sunday. Fingers crossed. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Not as eventful as I would have expected once the rain stopped. Three dies and a small basket rack 8 heading in for a few hours. Coming back in this evening. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Can’t recommend this seat enough for Lone Wolf (classic stands), XOP, Novix, and a few other compatible platforms. https://www.cvilleinnovations.com/product/small/4?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false
About 15 minutes ago I had a 1.5 year old 8 come out following a doe, hoping that’s a good sign for tonight’s hunt!
Can’t compete with Travis. Tried to take the end of my finger off with a 10’ garage door Wednesday morning. Ended up with 9 stitches and I’ll be back in the woods tomorrow morning. Travis, you are one lucky man with an overworked guardian angel! Prayers for a complete recovery.
Saw absolutely nothing last night. Buck bedded on the lane in and out of the property as I was leaving last night. Prick. Back in the same stand this morning. Big buck walked in front of my blind 150 yards away. Would not respond to calls. Later I heard rattling. Kind of thinking it’s a hunter on neighboring property. Beautiful Nov 1 morning. Feels good.
