I had a rare sighting in Colorado yesterday-two whitetails feeding in a field (they estimate about 7000 whitetail deer in a state 104,000 sq miles in size). It made me wonder how everyone is doing. So, how did yesterday go? Did anyone have any exciting action?
My exciting news is that I’m done farming for a while! Can now get a couple days of hunting in before a cruise with the granddaughters. After the cruise, it’s full speed ahead. Got a set of Sevr Ti 1.5 hybrid heads in yesterday. I’m excited about trying them out this morning. My “target” buck is still nocturnal, but coming out later in the morning. They get the corn shelled and I think that will change.
I’m headed out tomorrow AM. High of 79° today. High of 56° tomorrow. Unfortunately just too busy in the evenings so I’ll try a pinch point in the morning.
Supposed to be 45 in the morning. Definitely be sitting the stand! Sevrs are hitting perfect. Got to see what they do.
Anniversary was on saturday. Didn’t have the stones to sit in the gusting wind yesterday. I built an archery target bag stand for the basement instead. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I’m finally gonna be back out in a stand this weekend, and just in time too as the bigger buck are starting to show up more consistently on the cameras.
Rough start to the morning but it all worked out. First time taking a camera man with me this year. Had his stand and lifeline packed. Get to our spot after picking him up at 5:15 and realize I forgot his safety harness in my scent crusher closet. So we find a spot in a fallen down tree and do a natural ground blind. Had 7 does in the area this morning. 2 got in downwind at sunup unfortunately but it was so windy I don’t think they caused much damage. About 8:30 5 does worked their way in and we’re probably 50-60 yards up the hill but slid over the ridge and out of sight. Fun morning
I thought so. Had a nice shooting session last night, followed up by popcorn and modern family reruns with my wife.
