For me it is strictly dictated by the area. I will choose a treestand everytime if possible. I really don't like the confinement of a blind, but they do have their uses. I will often attempt a natural blind over a pop up. I use my pop up when I take the kids and thats about it.

I killed a 181 5/8 from the ground last year LSU at 15 yds out of a natural blind that was nothin more than a tree branch and some tall grass. Took me literally like 3 mins to throw it together.

Love my Summit Climber, have quite a few ladder stands spread out over 4 properties(probably 25/30) but love to get in places with the Summit climber. I do have 2 ground blinds, 1 hay bale and 1 uncle mikes, they are good if your pattern deer and know where they cross, and cover it up with fresh vegetation. I still think the 22 pound summit gets me anywhere i can go, as long as I have my trusty limb branch.... bring a couple zip ties with you and when you prune a couple branches, you can attach them to the bottom of the stand, gives you one hell of an advantage when you arent sticking out like a sore thumb!!!! the summit stand has been my best investment as far as stands go......You also can change positioning in the tree on a dime if you need to.

Thanks TJ, Ain't nothing but a thang brother! That ghost blind is legit too! you'd be surprised how well it blends, it's unreal! I use mine for the public land place I go in Ohio, its lights out!

I almost exclusively use treestands. I also have a summit climber as well as a lone wolf alpha hang on and a loggy bayou hang on and two sets of lonewolf climbing sticks. Depending where I hunt will determine what I use, but the lone wolf set up can be used in any tree unlike the climber. When I go to Kansas the climber stays home as I have yet to see a tree straight enough or not full of limbs that prevent the climber from being used.

No problem guys, thanks for the Thanks! spent about 9/10 years on Marines, now I'm in Security for the Gov now. Little better pay, and good schedule, except when it's hunting season(home in 3 weeks)! I try to get around 2 months of straight, then work like a dog after the Rut! So i'll be heading back at Thanksgving.... so we gotta get a move on these bucks brothers!!!!! I will get back again for the last couple weeks of the season but I should have them down before Thanksgiving!
Here's a good Video of the Ghost blind
Kevin Knighton GhostBlind Review - YouTube

And TJ probably has the job!!! Has my vote too!

And your right about the crooked trees! I have a couple sets of sticks and a couple hang ons, but rarely use them. I like that ghost blind!

Ya you will be very hard pressed to find a tree in KS to use a climber... they are few and far between. I use a lot of hang ons and a few ladder stands. The ladderstands are mostly set up for my Dad to hunt. Lil easier for him to get in and out of.
