Well guys I have had a pretty rough season in the buck department, I killed a few does early and things looked super promising for my hitlisters. However it seemed I had been a step behind them all year, always wrong stand at the right time. No matter which set I chose one would be on cam under a different set. Then I have my only good shot at the Backyard Buck screwed up by a trespasser. Anyway most of my big boys recently are only coming through at night. Getting a daytime pic here and there but not much. Pulled some cards on Wed night and had a 140 class 10 pt at 0930 three days in a row, so I told my wife I would be hunting that stand Thanksgiving morning and should be home by 1000. She then informed me that she made plans to leave for her parents early and I would need to be home no later than 0830-0900. So crap, I figured I would just stay home instead of possibly bumping him as I left so early. A few hours later in my frustration I decided I would do something totally different. I know of a lil spot on some public land that I hadn't hunted in years, I figured I would slip in there at first light and hunt from the ground for the little time I had and shoot the first decent buck I saw. I was really in need of a change of scenery and to try and break the bad mojo I had seemed to be having. So I get out there and find goose hunters across the field putting out a spread, ugh, but oh well and went and knelt down anyway. I wasn't there 15 minutes and here something behind me, its a buck, not a shooter on my farm but hey, this wasn't my farm  he was at 30 yds and just milling about. I had one small window to shoot through I drew and SMACK, caught a branch. The deer made a loud grunt and took off, I heard a bunch of racket and then all went silent. I thought it was a clean miss................ I shake my head and hop up to get my arrow and head home. As I get to where the deer was standing I don't see me arrow anywhere, nor any blood, so I begin kicking around the leaves looking for it and nothing. Finally I look up and over and see my arrow sitting atop a bush COVERED in blood, I grab it and look out into the clearing and there is solid blood all the way to the thicket where he ran.... lol huh??? I walk over and there he lay, the arrow had caught the branch and angled forward going through the deer and exiting the far side almost out the base of his neck. I quickly gutted him and threw him in the truck, my coffee was still hot. :tu: The entire hunt from the time I arrived to pulling out of the parking lot was 1 hr. lol

I have passed multiple 3.5 yr olds bigger than this on my farm this year, I just wont shoot a buck there that isn't on the list. But hey.... I couldn't be happier to have this deer down I haven't scored him yet but he wont tape much lol hopefully he is at least big enough I wont need the Fergie clause... lol

Heading North after work. I might be an ice cube by the time the weekend is over, but I have a good feeling about this weekend.

No luck for me this weekend. Still have a month left of season, but I probably won't get to hunt for another 2 weeks. :( At this point I'll probably take any deer I see. Wife wants me to get 2 more deer for the freezer so we have enough meat to last till opening of season next year.

No luck this weekend in Wisconsin for me. I'll probably be up there again before the season is over.

I'm going to head out this coming weekend. The guys that gun hunted the place said that there were no shots fired at all in the proximity and didn't really see much of anything. Fingers crossed.
