Well today I took my 17 year old neighbor hunting and I put him in my stand. While walking out the woods(heading to his stand) I hear the sound of a bow go off. Next thing I know, there is a doe running right at me with an arrow hanging out both sides. She cut left Into the trees. Don't think we gave her enough time to expire so we backed out and hit it again this morning. 15 yards from where we stopped looking last night, she laid. Found her this morning. Was the kids first deer!!!!!

Well Guys my first sit I didn't see any deer. This is a new area to me which is a little exciting. I did hear lots of partridge and saw a little porcupine. Excluding the fact I didn't see a deer it was a fairly good sit. I'm going to check my camera today at my other stand which is a half hour away. The one I sat in last night is only 5 minutes (which is why I sat in it due to the lack of time.) Great job on the Does by the way! Glad to see we're coming along nicely!

Well I checked my camera and I got 200 photos of does. Seems like the same 3 kept coming through. Gotta stick with it though. The bucks will soon be in my area. Good luck whoever is going this week!

I went out on this past Sunday and didn't see anything. I killed a fox. I went out last week and had 3 young does come in right at dark. I heard other deer about 75 yards behind me, but they never came in. It was cool that day in the 60s and I had a good wind and I knew they would move early. We need some cool temps and it will get right. last year I didn't have an encounter until October. I also had a shot at many of the bucks that are now on my Hitlist. If this year plays out like last, I will kill all 3.

Indiana is a one buck state. We're limited to one buck per year, total, no matter what season. I can hunt bow, firearms and muzzle loader season, but can only take one deer the whole year. The thing that sucks is that I'm the only person that hunts on the land. There are a couple bucks that I'd like to eliminate from the gene pool, but there are also two nice wall-hangers. Each year I have to decide if I want to take a wall-hanger, or if I want to eliminate a pathetic buck. Really wish I could take one of each this year. My fiancee says she wants to hunt this year after we get married and she becomes a resident of IN, but she doesn't want the pathetic single spike to be her first deer. LOL I told her I've been hunting the big boy for two years now and I'll be damned if she's going to come in and take him!

Just do what makes you happy, you never know what that spike can grow into unless you pass him and let em grow.

Heading out this afternoon. Doe are coming in right at dark. If given a shot, I am going to stick one.
