Thanks, also going out for a few private land hunts in Nov. we will see what happens. I just can't wait to get out there. I grew up in the South so moving to Chicago has drastically reduced the amount of time I spend hunting and fishing.

Season comes in sat here. I won't hunt till later in Oct. To many birds to shoot. Plus work is crazy before freeze up.

Nothing that hasn't been covered on these forums already, just hunt hard, scout and don't be afraid to try something different if what your doing isn't working. With public land you have to adapt to the pressure and hunt where the deer get pushed to. My best public stand in Ohio is literally 200 yds off the main road it's a pinch point with a small creek. My basic hunting strategy is bedding to food and food to bedding. And hunt funnels, ridges, and bowls in the oaks. It's all trial and error once you get a feel for the land and deer movement you will be golden. And sit as long as you can most hunters leave early around 10 sit till 12 and catch the deer there bumping and pre rut and rut sit all day.

If you have the time to hunt quite a bit, definitely try to get an idea where other guys are sitting on the public land and when they arrive and leave. Stay in the stand longer than they do, and get there earlier than they do in the afternoon.

    Hey Guys!

Just checking in and letting everyone where I'm at. Today was opening season here in Wisco but unfortunately I have to work the whole weekend. I also need to still fix my car (which I'm doing myself). I believe by tomorrow or Monday it should be in working order. However I did bait the stand today and checked my trail camera. It's been sitting for 2 1/2 weeks and I was hopeful for something but I only had some does on there. I figure it's better than nothing since I only was on a small runway. Also I bought my tag today so all I need to do is fix the car and find the time to make it to the stand. I'm not itching just yet because it's still pretty warm for hunting and the bugs are still pretty bad by me. I'll get in the stand sometime this week! :tu:

Since you didn't post anything after this, I'm assuming no luck. :(
