Hey all, sorry I haven't been on here much. Getting married Oct 12th so I've been quite busy with that. I had put a trail camera out Memorial Day weekend along with a salt block, but haven't been able to get out and check the cam. I spooked the bucks last year going in to check the cam in the summer and they never showed back up after that, so I decided I'd go at night this year, but have been too busy lately. I'm hoping to get in and check the cam and set up a stand or two over Labor Day weekend since temps will be dropping and I won't sweat as much going in. I'm in Terre Haute, IN, so another midwesterner. There is one buck that I've seen on cam both last year and two years ago, and really hope he survived through the summer. I'll let you all know if I get out and get any good pics from the cam. I would hope the 8G card is about full by now. LOL

Here is my #1 hitlist buck...this was two years ago

And here he is last year, although this video is nowhere near as good as the other one. If you look closely, it looks like he's picked up a drop tine.

I'd also be happy if this guy came along. This was also two years ago. Hopefully he's got some mass on him this year. I saw him running across the field last year and can't believe how tall his tines were. Haven't caught him on video since the first time, though.

Our thread sure has died down. Bear hunting was a bust, going to check a couple cams I have near the house. Our expanded season starts next Saturday but that is only for select areas in our state.

Sorry I haven't been posting a lot guys. I've been working a lot started school and also been trying to fix my car. Plus I have a tough mudder this coming weekend so I've been training a little for that here and there. However I've been shooting still when I can and looking forward to opening season on the 14th for us. Hopefully it cools off because if it's 70 degrees or warmer I'm not hunting in that. :tu:

I also apologize for my lack of participation. Wanted to get everyone's opinion. I have 3 total tags (2x IL, 1x IN) for the sake of securing points does it make sense for me to smack the first deer I see even if it is a doe? I only have a few days to hunt in IN and the $150 NR Tag is burning a hole in my pocket!

^^^ In my opinion you should shoot what you'll be happy with. The points will be there regardless. Just remember to take two pics of you and your trophy with your bow. Also unless rules have changed you're allowed two entries with one buck and one doe. The does are worth 50 points and bucks will score what they score unless it's under 50 then you get automatically 50 points. For example a spike wouldn't score 50 inches but you would get 50 points for the team anyway. I hope that clears it up a little. :tu:

I have 2 trigger happy teenagers. I'm not going to shoot a doe. Only bone for me. A guy can eat so much government goat.

I'll be shooting the first fawnless doe that walks by. Will then hunt for one of the big boys on my property. If I don't get one of them by the last couple weeks of season, I'll take out another doe. Freezer is empty so I need the meat to get through the rest of next year. Used the last of my venison a few weeks ago. :(
