Ended up being a decent weekend in the stand after all.

Saturday was not very good because of that ATV race the next property over IXCR - 2014 RD9 Event Info
But it did give me a chance to scout Saturday afternoon and I found some promising locations to stick a climber or blind in Nov.

Sunday morning was just a great hunt. It was 45 degrees calm as can be and the deer were just pooring into our large 1 acre forage oats plot. I ended up seeing 10 deer and finally laid eyes on a buck for the first time this year. Granted it was a small basket rack 8 its still a start! Then as I was running some trail cameras I found 8 different scapes scattered around all 3 of my food plots so that got me all fired up as well LOL.

Also got a new 10 showing up on camera

Looks like the season is shaping up nice for everyone! I went out Sunday but with 25 mph winds it was pretty tough. Going to let the woods sit until the last weekend in Oct. And I actually took off November 7th-14th off so hoping to get it done. Lots of little bucks starting to harass does and lots of scrapes popping up. Was only able to pull 3 cams but have some new bucks showing up. buck1.jpg buck2.jpg buck3.jpg buck4.jpg buck5.jpg buck6.jpg buck7.jpg

DANG! well maybe you will have a crack at him again. Its always tough on the nerves when a big buck comes in and stays just out of range.

So at the last min I decided to go hunting, just got into the stand. It's a little warm at 77f but should drop to low 60s at sunset and I know there is a bedding site withing 100 yards for some does so with some luck I might get a chance. I will also be bk 2moz am where temps will be mid 40s so should be a good hunt.

Well the deer did there part, I didn't do mine. 4 does came in at 7 eating away got ready pulled bk and 1 spotted me and put them all on alert. I put my 30yd pin on 1 and let it fly. They all run off and when I get down its a clear miss :( plenty of time left to make up for it.

It happens. Better a clean miss then a bad hit.

The bucks are starting to hit the ground. Team 2 put a nice buck down last night. I am gonna try to get out today or tomorrow for my first IL hunt and then again this weekend.
