Just got back from scouting the new land I got permission to hunt (near my house). I walked within 100 yards of two nice bucks and one is a wallhanger. I've now seen them in that same spot, twice (represented by yellow dot). The only thing that prevented them from discovering me was that I had about a 4mph EAST wind. Wind dominantly blows from the west. Don't know if you guys can tell in the pic but there is another small strip of trees on the north side of the "peninsula." The "peninsula" of land is kinda steep so maybe the wind would not affect me if I'm down near the bottom. I'll see.

Sounds like everyone is getting ready for season! Good luck on your CO trip Dan....

Speaking of trips, here in the next day or two, I'll be out of contact potentially for a couple of weeks on my elk trip....

    Getting close!!

Hey guys just checking back in! I have been a little busy just shooting and trying to get stuff gathered up for the season opener in two weeks!!
Me and a buddy have went out to a couple local fields across the road from where I do a majority of my hunting and just glassing from the road. We have seen a about 20+ deer but the only bucks known were a small 6pt and a spike! The rumor mill through town has it that there is two nice 8's and a 10pt running around in these fields?? I have not seen them and probably will not until November where I hunt??

I will keep in touch with ya'll!! Gd Luck!!

Donnie, Any chance to see what those big boys are doing in the morning? Their bedding area must be near where you seen them Im guessing. You may see a better opportunity catching them heading there.Just a thought.

Thanks Jason & good luck in NM.

This morning I walked outside to go to work and I just had to stop and look around. I don't know why I did,I just had to. Then it hit me, I could see my breath, cool nip in the air, fog lifting off the ground, Crows in the back ground.I felt the need to be in the tree stand.I'm so ready for this now.

I will have computer access in CO limited to night time and my abality to stay awake. If I lay the smack down I'll post it right away.

It looks like everyone has some kind of plan and doing some scouting keep with it and we could bring this thing home.

I dont know if I have mentioned yet but I am going to Ohio for a week in Novemebr so I am hoping to maybe get some points for us there? We shall see??

Also I am on a 3-11shift at work so I will have EVERY morning to hunt if I have the ambition to get my butt out there that much? I am excited about getting to hunt mornings as I have always enjoyed hunting in the morning much better then the evening!! I should atleast be able to get us a few points this year with no problem!!

I'm glad everyone is so optimistic about us getting points. As for me I'm heading up to my cabin for the weekend. I'm going to get the last of the work done before season the starts.

My wife can pull back her bow so she wants to hunt opening day. I'll just video her or my neighbor on his bear hunt. Then it's off "m starting to get pumped about this elk trip. I've shot a few elk before and 1 really big elk but I just love being out in the mountains listening to them.

Everyone have a good long weekend and stay safe. Watch out for bees this is what happened to me Wednesday Night.

Just got back from the cabin got all the work done so my wife can hunt next weekend. I went out and checked my neighbors bear bait this morning as I pulled into the bait I jumped a huge buck. My area isn't known for huge deer but this boy was fat. I didn,t get a great look at the rack but I went and found the tracks I bet he's over 250.

Thanks for all the well wishes,I got the last laugh I killed the nest.:p

It's my last day of work before I leave. Taking off right after work and going to my cabin. I'm going to film my neighbor in the morning and my wife in the afternoon as she trys for her first buck. Then we leave for Colorado Sunday morning. I will have some computer access while I'm in Colorado so I'll check in once in a while. To anybody going out hunting while I'm out good luck get some points. When I get back I will be in full whitetail mode.

    Good Luck

Some are starting to score already. I think I might make it this coming weekend in an Urban zone hunt. Anyone else closing in on the season?
