Had an ok weekend. Got in the stand 30 mins before daylight and had a bunch of does feeding through. About an hour later had a 2 1/2 year old 8 point come haulin down the trail. Had quite a few oppurunitys at him but not the deer I am looking for. Ty
I'll find out later this afternoon whether I'm going to be assigned overtime this weekend. I would like to get out for my first morning sit Friday. I don't think any youths will be hunting this weekend so may go Saturday or Sunday if I have to work the weekend. Season is finally open, now I'm hoping for the temps to cooperate. I'd say crops are 85% harvested around my hunt area, few smaller bean fields left, should be out within a week. November is looking good. Congrats on the doe Finch!

For those of you that didn't see in the Bowhunting area....I connected on this girl yesterday morning. First deer I've ever shot with a mechanical. I'll get her added to the contest a little later.
Well, looks like I'll be making it out Friday AM. Asked them if I'd be scheduled for the weekend, they said I could work a half day Friday, only we couldn't agree on which half of the day. So barring some big change tomorrow I'll be out a minimum of Friday morning. If I get a wild hair I may even take my climber out a sit or two and try my luck on some public ground field edges.
Well tonight was a bust. Saw two dawns right at dark. The wind was howling and ruined my hunt. Tomorrow is another day.
A little update from GA. I'll be out in the morning for a half day sit. Then Wed I head off to the lease for 3 full days (Thur-Sat) of hunting! First bit of vacation time I'll be using to hunt.
Well, I finally managed to get in a morning sit. Had a lot of activity between 8 and 9, but couldn't get drawn on either of the 2 does I wanted to take out. Well heading out tomorrow morning. It'll be down to the 50s tonight. Sure would be nice to finally see something.
Out on stand right now. Had some predawn activity but been pretty slow since day break. I've got a little while longer on stand before I have to come down. Temps are great right now. Was about mid 40s when I came in and it's still mid 50s. It's suppose to get up to 85 today though.
Justin has requested a team captain on another thread. We never decided on a captain. I reported in for our team but if somebody else wants it feel free to speak up and I'll delete my post out of that thread.
I have no objections, you have my vote. On a side note, I may get out a day or two this weekend. Not going to be as hot, but still warm. A lot of the weather models are showing a cool spell to happen around here mid next week followed by an even colder spell on its heels. This is what I have been waiting for and my time afield will dramatically increase. Bring on the cold!!
That's cool with me GA... did some hunting today...saw 4 in the morning and was forced out of the woods this evening by one heck of a thunderstorm.
Leaving in a few hours to head down to my lease for Thur, Fri and Sat hunting. No cell service or computer access, it's going to be GREAT!!
Saw 4 deer tonight... passed up a little 7 point at 23 yards. Once he moved off I noticed that he had a big gash on his shoulder. It looked like somebody took a straight down shot and hit him in the shoulder blade with something like a Rage or Bloodrunner. He wasn't limping and didn't show any signs of it bugging him so I hope he makes it. I probably won't be back out till Saturday morning, but it's supposed to be COLD Saturday morning so things should start picking up for me.
