that’s skill, how is the saddled? i don’t think i could ever pull the trigger on doing it but i’ve always been interested in it.
Love it. I enjoy packing back in about a mile or two. I love hunting different locations. But carrying that 18lb summit viper up these SE Ohio hills got old fast. So I pulled the trigger and haven’t regretted it one time. Went with the Aweo Kestrel Kit, Millennium Lite Sticks, and 3 Wild Edge Stepps as my platform. But I didn’t get all this until Oct 27 last year. So I was learning how to do this during the rut...not advised. Took me 30 minutes or so to get all set up...including camera gear. I hated my sticks and managing g the strings and carrying g 4 of them still wasn’t light. I also sucked at the WE Stepps and getting them to cam over like they should. But as for the saddle...loved it. Took some time to find the sweet spot and eliminate that hop pinch...but once I did it was awesome. Extremely comfortable. I eventually found an old pair of tree spurs and stopped using the sticks. Also swapped out the WE Stepps for a Ring of Steps as my platform. So basically I wear in the 2lb saddle, put the spurs and ROS in my pack until I get to the tree...and I can hunt any tree anywhere. It’s easier if there’s not a ton of limbs in the way up but I can manage those too. It’s incredibly safe as your are secured from base til tether...and there’s no way to fall out of the thing. By the end of the season I could climb up a tree and be fully set up in under 20 minutes. Camera gear included. So yea, I’m a fan. I’ve sat in it for up to six hours and never felt any discomfort. I love that I can shoot any side of the tree I want. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In order to convince my wife I had to sell my Summit viper. So I basically went All In on it. Found out that it is an expensive set up. It took me some time to get the set up that worked for me. But now I should be good to go. No need to buy another stand to place in a new spot...because I’m wearing my stand. From that perspective it will save money in the long run. I’m interested in adding a saddle to lighten things up. There’s so many of them out there nowadays, I’m not sure which direction to go . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well there’s not that many really. Unless you want to get into the DIY turn rocking climbing gear into a saddle method. There’s a lot of rabbits to be chased there. There’s two main active companies: Tetherd and Aero Hunter Both are solid from everything I’ve heard. Trophyline was a group in the past that went away...and now that saddlehunting has become popular, I’ve heard they are back and making a new saddle. Aero Hunter has 3 saddles and they are all have similar features. Aero Kestrel(what I own and the only I’ve tried)- Awesome, lightweight, very sturdy and well built. I bought the kit which came with the lineman’s belt, tether, bridge, and backband (which I used once and decided I didn’t really need). Aero Flex- This is the new model that’s basically like the Kestrel but from what I know has built in stretchabilty which eliminates hip pinch. I used to have hip pinch but after adjusting my tether link it’s no long an issue. Aero Kite- Same thing as Kestrel except the seat is a mesh material instead of the solid. Supposedly holds up well despite being mesh. Tetherd Mantis- Super Lite weight and minimalist. Mesh like material like the kite. Some guys love it. Others want a little more support like the Kestrel has. That’s it from what I know. You can get into sit drags and other crazy stuff but those are the main models out at this point. There’s a lot of options for a platform and sticks of course but I’ll leave that for another post or you can PM. I’ve filled up our Team thread with saddle info. They oughta pay me for it,lol! I just enjoy the lightweight style and it’s a fun and effective way to hunt. End of saddle talk for today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had to sell my viper just to get my xop and sticks Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

Early special regulations area starts next Saturday for me in PA, but I’ll be out of town unfortunately. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Travis, thanks for the info on the saddles. Both have an approximate 6-10 lead time on shipping, so I may do a little more research and order one after the season. Still up in the air though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good call. I think I ordered mine in early September and didn’t get it til late October. And I was in before it became super popular. It was just picking up some. Our season doesn’t come in til the last Saturday in September in Ohio. Elk trip is in 1 week though! That’ll pass the time! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah right there with ya down here in the foothills lol 28th can't come fast enough. Good luck on your elk trip man! That's definitely a dream. Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

Got the lease brush hogged, hung a few stands, poured out some golden acorns, and hung a few cameras. We’re putting our food plot out on Tuesday then Ill have a few more cams out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks! That tree has some giant bucks come by every year. Plus tons of doe. I’ve never hung a double there. I don’t really like how the one is off to the side but my son won’t be with me all the time. They’re 20ft up plus another 10 ft up from where the deer come in. I’ve hunted it in every single win there is an have never been busted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats all that matters! I was playing with my stand today with aiders and looks like my top height is right around 18 with three sticks and aiders. Used to being higher being in a climber but hoping with the hang on I can get more cover so it won't matter lol. I'm actually pretty excited to hunt with my dad this year and film him. We haven't sat together since I was probably 10 lol after that i was cut loose and he had to take the little brothers hahah Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
