Hah I agree. Depends on how I’m feeling although last year I passed a bunch of little bucks and killed a 156. Maybe I should do that more often. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well...after three years of waiting...tomorrow is the day. Bags are packed, gear is good to go for my Colorado archery elk hunt. I’m kind of in the surreal mode. Ready to get it underway and enjoy the journey. I’ll be in the Gunnison area. If you’d like to follow along I’ll be updating some on Instagram and Facebook. Just follow Shedding Light Outdoors. Mowed trails and checked cameras today. Also finished a experiment I’m trying this year. I put a 12’ 4x4 4-5’ in the ground in two places on the private property I hunt. I also screwed adjustable flag pole holders as high as I could reach on them and on the one on my personal property put a camera over it I had to stand on the ranger to put up. All I had to do yesterday was out the oak branches in the holders. Last year I just used a oak branch and metal fence post like a saw on the show. They broke the branch that stuck out before prime time so I’m hoping this is a little more durable as the base is so high. I’m also curious if they will rub on the pine 4x4 even though it’s treated. I’ll pry check that camera one more time right around the start of season then just leave it until at least December and see what I get. It was very active last year in this place. I also got pics of a couple decent bucks. The first one I’m not sold on yet but the second one is a deer I will shoot for sure. I passed him once last year as a 9 and he pushed out the extra point this year. I know he is at least 4.5 and should be killable if he follows the same patterns. Looks like a bachelor group strolled through this morning! Bucks have always bachelored up back here every year and I catch them all back in the bedding later on in October. This camera is about 30 yards from my dads stand so hopefully get gets him one this year! If he can get on them early he'll be covered up in them for sure. Might just film him the first week then try for my doe haha freezer is telling me not to do that though lol Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Good luck! Let me know what they’re doing. I’ll be headed out on the 20th. Hopefully I’ll hit it where they’re screaming like crazy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got seed in the ground this morning. No bucks on cam yet. I’ve got tons of doe and fawns though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Both are looking pretty tasty right at this moment Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
It's been too darn hot to do anything here. But this evening is a nice cool 93 with a breeze. So I had to do something to get my Lab tuned up. The farmer on one of my properties posted on Facebook that he was sowing oats today. Turns out that it was in the field right next to my rifle blind. So I'm happy about that! Took the dog out and we're sitting in the shade of that blind doing some dove hunting. Not much action but we got two so far. Sent from my SM-G892A using Tapatalk

My current case is ky moved the opener locally to Sept 7, I’m back up North at the moment but I was able to clear trails and scout. Be back first week of October, summers over in Minnesota consequently my next assignment in South Padre, my get a shot at some Texas horns. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
I envy you guys that get to bounce around and hunt lol I've never hunted out of Ohio. Really hoping next season that changes. Think I have the wife talked into it hahah Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I’m lucky my wife has always let me go out of state. This year I’m headed to Colorado, Missouri and Illinois. Less than two weeks until it all kicks off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Its more of a money situation for me lol I work while she stays at home with the three kids. Although its one of the better paying jobs around it still limits me. Thinking of going to west Virginia to one of the bow hunting only counties next year though. Its close enough i can drive to on a weekend if my heart desires haha Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I definitely understand that. We only have one little one and he’s in school now. In our early years I didn’t get to do much due to her being in college. Now I take a few trips a year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats awesome you have that opportunity man. My daughter just started preschool. It'll be a couple years before my boys do. Cant wait to get them in the woods with me lol Sent from my LML212VL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
