Good looking bucks. That last one is funky.

 

The last one is the same buck as in the first pic. He had to have been 9 as least. Only saw him once lfts in 2016.

 

The one from 10/18/2020 is a funky buck.

Season opens Saturday for us, but I'll be at the Iowa - Michigan game, sure I'd be better off hunting.

Got back from chasing bugling bulls. Had a blast and had 3 bulls within 20 yards and another inside 40. I thought I made a clean shot at a 6x5 but alas it was not meant to be. My only guess it that he stepped down the mountain as I drew and hit higher than I liked. I was basically shooting an opening that lined up with his vitals. You can see that he moves on video and the opening no longer lined up with the vitals and the rest is history. Well, I must have been still in elk mode because I decided to sit on the ground when I got back to Wisconsin and a good 10 point I passed last year did exactly what I thought he would do. I have two spots I can draw when he is obstructed by trees. I chose the second one which was a mistake because it was one of those super quiet nights and he must have heard me. He was still behind the tree at 12 yards when I saw his butt rock back a little bit and I knew it was done for me. A gopro caught him looking in my direction which I could not see. One snort and see you later. Similar to a story I had last year early season. I wouldn't get too worked up but that was my only chance last year. Hopefully this is not the case this year. Here is a pic that my cam caught of him running away and a trail cam photo of him a few weeks back. I actually hope he makes it one more year but he is still a shooter in my area. Would have been a cool hunt so close and on the ground.

Good luck this weekend everybody. I'm taking my girls in the blind and we are going to try for a freezer queen. Maybe even a good buck will make a mistake.

Will be out this evening. Got family in from Florida and they are heading home around lunch time. Luckily they have a home to go back to after Ian came thru. They live in Sarasota....

 

Well boys been busy as all hell with work and getting prepped the last couple weeks! Paid off this morning on this 11 point.

More importantly I got to have my twins, nephew, and dad out there to help us find him!

Heads up from the Captains group, there was a buck shot on cam by one of the guys on another team, all video's for BHOD youtube. It technically didn't show the bow in the recovery because it was a liver shot. We voted to count it as it obviously followed the spirit of the rule.

Just make sure you get the bow and yourself and 2 pics!!!! The was an all Captain warning, lol.

Got out yesterday evening. Ended up putting in a ground blind instead of hunting. NE wind sucks at my lease. No big loss this early.

My brother is coming off 6 months rehab for multiple surgery's on his hips! He needs a big ground blind to sit in, so I put up my big Mike blind along the edge of field trail going into the sanctuary.

 

Did you get a chance to put a tape to it?
