Last evening was a pretty good hunt. I saw plenty of does and fawns. With 15 minutes of daylight left, I saw a good buck on the hill just standing. He came down to the fence row and stood there for 10 minutes. When I looked to my right I saw another buck at 20 yards. He ended up passing under me at 15 yards but I never got a shot. He’s a 130” 9 point that I have pictures of. The other buck ended up coming closer but it was smaller. I lost daylight before I could get any shot opportunities but a good set.

Decided to go to lease mid morning and sit till 3pm. Trail cams showing movement during the middle of the day.
Good luck to those that get out today.

 

Got into my blind around 9am. Coon paid me a visit and shredded the side and top of my blind. Sum beach! Seen one doe so far. Did a patch job on it with the trusty duck tape I carry. Deer need to get closer.

 

I had a coon problem at my place when we moved in. "Had". I trapped close to 40. They get into everything and no wonder the turkey population is low by my place. Now I'm working on the skunks (4) and opossum (1).

 

You would not believe the damage to the corn they have done back where the blind is at.. looks like a microburst hit 4 rows in from the woods.

 

Im out. Chilled pretty good from the dampness. Nothing more after the doe.

 

I’m back home. I didn’t see any deer this morning. I seen a lot in the fields driving back after lunch. Hopefully this weekend will be better.

Got it done last night on a pretty good size doe. Broke the ice for the season and was a good hunt. Had 6 deer within 20 yards. One was a real young 10 point that’s a future giant.

Seen 2 does at 6 forty something. Never got closer than 70 yards. Great evening to be in the woods.....
